Ronald, Edinburgh Hate getting ripped off.
- Good points:
-
Quite simple to install and use.
At least looks OK as it is sat next to the TV and I hate clutter. - Bad points:
-
Could be the TV as well but it is a bit slow to download any pages or data from the internet.
For what it is, it is a bit pricey. But hey, I still bought it.
Why did they not just build it in to the TV. Would have been a lot cheaper to do that and I'm sure most people would have been willing to pay for it that way.

- Good points:
- plug and play
- Bad points:
- cost of item, not enought channels available without extra costs eg. itv player 4od etc, wish i hadn't bothered to purchase the item as most devices come with the wi-fi built in for an eigth of the price. These should now be sold at cost to sony purchasers!

Here’s a list of the questions other shoppers have asked owners of the Sony UWA-BR100
-
Cant connect to my wi-fi connection????
-
first off what device are you tying to connect?
have you been to network setup in your device and put in your network password.
A bit more info would help. I use my UWA-BR100 with my Sony Blu Ray player -
You could try checking out the Sony web site for an answer to your problem. That's how I managed to connect to my British Telecom Home Hub. Sorry I can't provide a better answer, I'm afraid I am not technically minded. Apologies.

Is this equipment simply in lieu of hard wiring ethernet direct to the Router or does it include other features as well?
-
Hi,
You can hard-wire an internet connection and as far as I am aware this has no effect on features - my reason for buying this is that my wifi router is on a floor above. So if you have a connection close to hand I'd hook it up that way and save yourself the £60.... -
Not really sure what your question is, I bought when I bought a bluray player, simply so that I can connect to the BBC iplayer and other catchup programmes, I did not want to have to pay sky for something that this unit does, also it is easy to move room to room. Hope this helps
-
-
im trying to see exactly what this device dose as well as how to operrate it
-
eric ,you first have to have a wireless internet connection to your broadband service before you can use it.
The BR100 allows you to connect to BBC I PLAYER,UTUBE ect via your broadband connection, but make sure you have at least 2meg speed on your connection or BBC I PLAYER will not operate properly and keep stopping and starting.
If you have a wireless connection you will have to read your TV intructions to get your tv to search for your wireless connection, its a bit too involved to try and explain by a note, so good luck andrew

-
Sorry for possibly yet another daft question, but I can't find my TV in the list of compatible products;
KDL37EX723
I presume that as it is the only one they make it works, but .........................
-
I'm using a UBWABR100 with a KDL-40EX723
-
-
do i have to be wireless or will it pick up my normal connection?
-
I think u have to be wireless
-
-
Can,t get the dammed thing to work with my wireless set up !(BT Router) will be taking it back to the shop for a refund, what awaste of time! I give it 0/10
-
Sorry about your problem but i can assure you that the device does work. Are you sure you are within range. Try repositioning the router and/or the device to get them as near to 'line of sight' as you can.
Good luck

Hi
I've connected my KDL-37W5500 to the router via an ethernet cable and can stream from my pc, however will I need this dongle to access the internet as I don't appear to be able to currently.
I've gone through all the settings, and have been looking for the answer on the net but no luck.
-
As far as I am aware, the Sony UWA-BR100 is designed specifically for use with Sony Blu-Ray disc players, so will not be suitable for your needs. SorryI can't be more helpful in this instance.
-
-
may sound like a silly question bit will i be able to connect to the internet using my laptop dongle with this device in any way ???? desperate mum who can,t afford a phone line connecting
-
no im sorry the dongle receives signals through your router, the same as wi- fi from your pc.
-
Stuart is correct you need a wireless router setup in your home connected to a landline
-
-
I have this nice little device connected to my Sony TV. Unfortunately sound only cones from the TV, not my Sony DVD Surround. Anyone know if I can connect my Sony TV to the Sony DVD Surround - perhaps via optical cable and gain sound from the Soney Surround system? This would really help when streaming films etc. Thanks!
-
Are you able to use the device in your Sony DVD player? My Sony DVD player is compatible and therefore I can plug the USB device into my DVD player and get internet connection that way.
-
-
Can I use with the Sony BDV-EF200 Home Theatre System
-
Dont know enough about your system to be sure but if it works with my Sony TV it should work with your system.
-
-
it will suit kdl-32ex400 model
-
Yes, I have the UWA BR-100 linked up to the same TV, works a treat...
-
-
Hi
What is the passphrase or security key?
Thanks-
Whatever your network password is. If you've forgotten it, check online for your make and model.
...and I'm not telling you mine :)

-
Can I use the UWA-BR100 to connect to LoveFilm's movie streaming?
-
dont know i know u can connect to netflix
-
If your TV supports this application then you can use the device to make a connection to your home network and you should then be able to stream movies. But remember to check whether your TV has the LoveFilm application.

Hi I'm looking at buying one of these but are unsure if I can pair it up to my tv and then pair my iPhone to the tv so I can watch videos, look at pictures and play music. Has anyone else tried it and could let me no if it works thanks
-
It works well with my tv but I have not tried it with an iPhone.
-
-
i connected my uwa-br100 to my tv & says i am connected already with the web but i cant see the internet icons on my tv im confused!
-
You have to pick the Internet section of the menu on your TV. Mine is a Sony and there is one section for web pages and another for video where I can view BBC iPlayer and other such services. The dongle does not turn your TV into a Windows computer.
-
Had no problem with the dongle - just the firmware on the TV. It would not recognise a hidden network. Updated firmware no problems with connection. Web browser on TV is slow, clunking and bug ridden. Upgraded TV's firmware 3 times and each time gets rid of some of the bugs. Important to check you have the latest firmware for your model of TV.

just bought tv kdl40cx520, i was unaware you have to buy uwa-br100 ! do i need this adaptor to enable me to skype ? as i have read it has a built in camera and mic !
if i didnt use tv to skype can i purchase any wireless usb adaptor . please help , any tv boffins out there !!!-
Hi Gerry, I've had a UWA-BR100 for about 6 months now and love it for streaming film/audio to your TV (Lovefilm, Quriosity, I-player etc.). As far as I am aware you can't skype using it - there's definitely no camera and mic incorporated...
No wireless adapter will work on a Sony other than this one. -
well your best and cheapest route would be an ethernet cable if at all possible, failing that your stuck with the Sony dongle which is greatly overpriced. The reasons generic ones do not work is because you cannot install the driver that comes with them into the sony blu-ray player or tv. If you came across a cheap enough bridge or an old router with client mode in it that can also work.(These are often called game adapters) They take your existing LAN port and basically turn it to wifi.

Hi.... I'm in two minds after seeing varying reviews for the UWA-BR100. I understand there is another option using Solwise 85 Mbps Home Plug Ethernet adaptors... Has anyone used these with success and do they come with the correct cables to connect them to the Sony Bravia KDL40EX523? I use the BT Infinity Broadband system... Many thanks in advance. Chris
-
Hi Sorry I haven't tried anything else but please let me know if you have any luck
I may consider it.
Best regards June

How can I get ITV player with this?
-
I can only get 5 on demand...
-
-
I’ve gone through the set-up procedure on my Bravia TV, with the UWA-BR100 installed, I’ve tried the WPS set-up, it can’t find my BT home hub, tried the set-up entering the WPS Key It can’t find my BT home hub, if I go in and look for available devises, it shows my Home Hub with three bar strength, but when I enter the Key nothing happens. Can anyone help me with this problem?
-
Did a quick search of other forums and found...

Hope it helps -
Do not be offended as you most likely have been doing this but make sure you are clicking the wireless setup choice regards

Can anyone tell me why it won't pick up ITV Player. I'm thinking of buying one but I want to get BBC Iplayer and ITV.
Also, do I need it on a cable or can I connect it straight to the TV?-
ITV Player is not currently enabled on Sony Internet TVs.Depends on which TV set you have.Comes with cabling option.
-
The services that you can see are provided by Sony. BBC Iplayer is def provided on this service. You can connect direct to the TV, it does come with a cable that you can use to positon the device if you so choose.
-
Itv player at present is only available via the web. The word from from av forums is that only way to get itv player is if you have a humax PVR. Though there is a glimmer of good news for those of us fortunate enough to have the Internet enabled or smart tv's itv player should be with us in the next few months.
-
-
i pick up bbc i player and 5 on demand but no itv player or 4 on demand. what am i doing wrong ?
-
Hi,
Sadly it appears from lots of forums that ITV Player isn't currently available and Sony are under lots of pressure to resolve this........unfortunately it appears that this has been going on for a long time........so you may need to be patient.......unsure but I suspect this also applies to other missing services.
Regards
Geoff

-
Will this work with my blu ray BDPS480 player please?
Or should i buy one with it built in?-
I'm afraid I don't know but I do know it's always cheaper and less hazzle if the function is built in.
-
-
Can you connect this to a Sony blu ray 3d player to get the online festures?
Thanks-
Not sure about 3G but is compatable with my Sony Blu ray- on paper a good product but in reality just not a reliable connection online. Not recommended- get home plugs instead at half the price
