    1. Ok I think I know what you have done....if you place your finger on the screen and hold it there a menu will pop up where you can set the background back.....hope this helps
      Robert replied on

  2. I am looking to purchase a tablet pc. Can i fit a sim card directly into this tablet?
    steve asked on

      Jaroslaw replied on

    2. You need to purchase the 3G versiobl. Wifi version will be useless

  4. Can you play facebook games with the sony s tablet?
    Tahirih asked on
    1. As far as i'm aware unless you're willing to tamper with the rom no... however if gaming is your thing tnhe sony tabs do have playstation games available. Certainly as good as anything available on the android market place. Hope this helps.
      Stephen replied on

  5. Hi, Can somebody explain to me the difference between 3G and non 3G on a sony tablet. Thank you
    Emma asked on
    1. 3G means you can access the 3G internet when you're outside of a wifi area. I believe you have to take out a contract to use it. However if you're only going to be using the tablet at home and have wifi I would suggest that you dont need the 3G. I only use mine at home and do not need the 3G
      Heather replied on

    2. You only need to have 3G if you wish to use the tablet online when you are away from your home or other free wi-fi or indeed if you only have mobile wi-fi from vodafone etc
      Allan replied on

  6. how does the transfer of media files (music ,pictures and movies)work on sony tablet
    frank asked on
    1. There are various ways; you can use the built-in file transfer tool, which starts automatically when it detects a storage device plugged into the USB port of the Tablet S. You can also use this app to transfer media from the SD card, although with a file-manager app (I use File Manager HD Honeycomb, optimized for tablets) you can read directly from the card. Finally, I use Wifi File Explorer Pro (59p from the Android Market) to transfer media across my wireless network directly from a web browser on my PC to the tablet. Hope this helps!
      Del replied on

  7. can you use a normal usb stick to transfer files
    wayne asked on
    1. No you need an adapter that only sony make or use the sd card thats how I got my music and photos on board
      stewart replied on

    2. Not tried connecting a usb stick but have used the sd card as above and used the dlna method for pictures, video and music.
      David replied on

  8. Hi can you hook tablet up to computer and drag and drop music videos etc?
    Vaseem asked on
    1. I use a program called drop box. Which there is an app for as well. This allows me to effective drag and drop. Works really well.
      Phil replied on

    2. Yeah, you can connect via a USB cable or I transfer video to SD card and run it from the card directly. The internal memory has a section called Sdcard 1 which you can change.
      Stephen replied on

  9. would you prefer an apple ipad2 over the s tablet?

    adnan asked on
    1. I wouldn't, personally I prefer the Android to ioS systems due to being more customisable and tweakable, so my choice was between android tablets and the remote functionality swayed me since all my 3d TV, blu ray and am are all Sony. Hope my answer helps
      Reg replied on

    2. No
      Keith replied on

  10. hi can you install itunes ?
    regards
    steve
    steve asked on
    1. I've not tried, but as itunes is proprietary to apple and on a different OS i suspect not

I can play my entire itunes library on the tablet, however

      hope this helps

      andy
      Andrew replied on

    2. No you cannot.
      Michael replied on

    3. you can import all your itunes music in fact all your music to music unlimited and play on you tablet but you don't need itunes with a Sony tab you can get your music from where ever you want.
      Luke replied on

  11. Hi about how many films and songs can be downloaded on to the sony tablet.thank you
    stuart asked on
    1. I haven't got around to doing that yet I'm afraid. I've downloaded the Kindle app and some books & that works brilliantly - obviously it's a bit expensive to take to the pool/beach, but good for planes & trains. Sorry I'm not more help!
      Cat replied on

    2. I have converted a 7.9GB DVD to 712.4MB. I have several MP3 audio files installed plus several apps inc. Kinde so have 6.53 GB free. I guess it will hold about six movies. I have not filled it as I like to delete movies etc I have no more use for and put new stuff on it. The sound is good and the screen excellent. You can put files on and SD card and run them from it without transfering the files to the Tablet.
      Isabel replied on

    Ian asked on
    1. sorry, don't know, it works fine with my Sony TV
      Simon replied on

    2. Yes you can. As well as a large library of remote codes for non-Sony devices, you can programme it too using an existing IR remote via a "learn" capability.
I use it to control my Panasonic blu-ray (pre-programmed into tablet) and my 3view HD PVR (used the learn feature). Hope this helps.
      Jean-Marc replied on

    3. basically yes you can, full instructions with the device.
      David replied on

  14. How do I use the tablet to control a non smart sony tv?
    dave asked on
    1. Hi there. The tablet s will work on any tv or anything else that uses a normal tv style remote. I can evern control my fishtanks lights with it. It's got loads of tv,DVD player, stero and BR settings already pre installed. It's very easy to use. Hope that helps

      bruno replied on

  16. IS THE SONY TABLET WAY BETTER THAN IPAD2?

    HOLLIE asked on
    1. My first impression is not, but for me a tangible benefit of the sony tablet over the iPad is when you have Sony TV or BDplayer or home theatre, it connects with your sony tablet
      Stéphan replied on

    2. I think if you have sony equipment then it would be a good choice. It all is down to what you want the tablet to do, if its as a media player will only play MP4 format not avi or divx mkv. I think the Sony is better looking design wise.
      Tim replied on

    3. The iPad is better if you have other Apple equipment i.e. a Mac or an i-phone/pod. If you don't the Sony is better. I use a PC and an Android phone and the Sony is much more compatible (no need for i-tunes etc.) Performance wise both pieces of equipment are great but I prefer the style of the Sony. The Sony also has an SD card slot and a micro usb port which makes it much more flexible. I have the 16GB model but with a couple of 32GB SD cards have over 70GB capacity.
      david replied on

  17. Will it work with my portable HDD through the USB port
    Mike asked on
    1. Hi, unfortunately I havnt tried connecting a hdd through the usb port, but I have found out that it must be FAT32 formatted and the electrical consumption musnt exceed 500mA as the usb port has that limitation.got the information from the sony tablet forum site.
      MICHAEL replied on

  18. My question is does this Sony Table play flash, i.e. can I watch YouTube on it? If yes, does is have good definition (720 quality)?

Also, can this be used for web mail (e.g. Yahoo) to read and compose e-mails? Lastly, how comfortable is this for typing in word (if possible) for say about 30 mins.

    Thanks for your replies.
    Jamie asked on
    1. Hello. Firstly yes, the Sony S does play flash. It is also 1280x800, so better than 720 quality. There are widgets I use on here for emails, which I have linked into my hotmail account. So I assume it would support Yahoo as well.
There's no word processing software that comes on the tablet, however there might be an app for it. Im not 100% sure though as I dont do that much typing on it. But typing this has been pretty easy.
I hope this has helped :)
      Heather replied on

  19. Is there a list of compatible tv's for the Sony S? I've asked before in store and only offered blank faces.
    I have a Bravia BX400 model.
    Neil asked on
    1. Sorry, I don,t know. I use mine with Playstation 3 and it works quite well

      Allan replied on

    2. Hi it will work with wifi so if your tv has it then this should work also a play station 3.
I also think it works via a USB although not tried this myself as I use the wifi.
      Raymond replied on

    3. You haven't been specific about the features you want compatibility with, so, after looking at the spec of your tv, I'll try to cover all the bases.

The Tablet S IR remote will operate your tv; however, the Bravia BX400 isn't equipped with WiFi or LAN and does not have DLNA capability, so those functions will not be available to you.
      Del replied on

  20. I panicing that l broke my charge wire it has alot of play in it is it normal please say it meant to have play in it
    Aaron asked on
    1. There is supposed to be quite alot of flexibility in the cable so all is fine really unless it has stopped working.
      jeff replied on

  21. does it run off android ?
    sean asked on
    1. sorry, but no
      michael replied on

    2. It runs Android, the latest version of Ginger bread.
      harinder replied on

    3. Yes it does, It actually, runs Honeycomb (The tablet optimized version of android, Gingerbread is strictly for phones) And will be updated to the newest version 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich estimated in Q2 2012, first answerer clearly doesn't know what he is talking about. Hope this helps. :)

  25. I heard the wi-fi on the 16gb can be really bad does any one have any bad experiances?
    Thomas asked on
    1. I use my Sony Tablet in a different room to the router and there is a solid wall between it and the router, admitted the signal is minimal but I've yet to lose the signal.
      Walter replied on

    2. Mine has done everything I've asked of it
      david replied on

    3. The wi fi is fine on mine. The only problem is that if you leave the tablet on and don't use it for a while it does disconnect and then needs to be rebooted. I've not tried very hard to solve the problem so there maybe an easy solution. It works better upstairs than the laptop!
