- Good points:
- Bass is incredible, but there is detail, too. I feel as if I am listening to real 'life-size' hi- fi, and not through headphones at all. The soundstage is broad and spacious. They are wildly comfy, too! Love the flat cord. In short, they are the best headphones I own.
- Bad points:
- A little loss of detail is about it. It's a small price to pay for the full, rounded sound.

- Good points:
- the bass is so clear, its unreal. the pads are so comfy and your ears are so snug in them, its a beautiful design.
- Bad points:
- after having this product for a short time, i noticed that whistle watching a movie, the right speaker was crackling, so was from too much bass, my fault really, but i do need to get them replaced but i just cant afford it yet.

- Good points:
- Wow... Extra bass? Hell yeah! The bass is crystal clear. These headphones can also go up to stupid loud levels with out any signs of distortion! I love to use the headphones with my ipod. When the acoustic equalizer is set, thats when the magic happens! The highs and lows are incredible! I compared these to DR Dre. And the Sonys sound much better and feel more expensive! My friends adore them! I am a budding audiophile, and my opinion is; If you're looking for headphones, but dont care how big they are, then get these! You will not regret it! If Dr Dres are £170? then these sound like £300!
- Bad points:
- This is being really critical. I would like the headphones to have a detacthable cable. I feel safer with detacthable cable, I've caught it many times, and i wouldnt like the cable to break!

Here’s a list of the questions other shoppers have asked owners of the Sony MDR-XB500
-
With some phone, the output in headphone very, for example, the iPhone give a bigger power output than a Sony Ericsson, so if I use these headphone on a Sony Ericsson, would I have to put the volume on max just so I can hear something?
-
At the moment I use this with my dell streak which has the worst out put of almost any phone out there and the bass 500 does not hold back although I would say that it is in the zone with a nokia or with the iphone and for a base head like me I tend to keep the volume lower than full.
-
-
How large are these headphones? I'm looking for a pair that will give me great sound quality, good isolation and good bass, but I also want them to be stylish. Hence I want them to be large (but I'm 17 and a girl, wouldn't want them to look ridiculous). And do they fit around your neck? As I wouldn't want to always have to have a bag to put them in.
-
I'd recommend them because they look stylish and fit around your years quite well, they are also the most comfortable pair of headphone I have owned alongside the other mdr-xb’s.
The bass on these headsets are exceptionally good and so are mids but the highs are not the best nor the worst, if you really want these then I recommend you get the mdr-xb 750 instead caus they only cost a bit more but are much better.
all in all the 500’s and 750’s are the Best headsets for the asking price.
-
mdr-xb 700 not the mdr-xb 750 i just checked
-
-
If you are watching a movie with these headphones, does the bass overpower the treble or speech in the movie?
-
No not really but this wasent built with movie's in mind, good with music ok with movies
