Here’s a list of the questions other shoppers have asked owners of the Sony Bravia KDL-40NX723

  1. what is meaning full HD?
    &Skype ready?
    x reality?
    ali asked on
    1. I have no idea about the x-reality.

However the HD means High Definition which means that some TV channels, DVD's and Blue Ray discs are displayed at the very best picture quality available. It is noticeably better than a standard TV in these regards.

The TV also have the ability to be networked (either by inbuilt Wi-fi or by a LAN cable) which means you have access to the internet. One of the many benefits of this is that you can attach a webcam to your television and make phone calls with video over the internet through a provider called Skype. Skype is free and people use it for all sorts of purposes in business from their laptops already. We use our internet connection to stream Movies and documentaries from websites such as BBC

  2. i have just bought this tv, it is all connected to the internet, i can use the iplayer but i am having trouble using the internet browser, it brings up the sony website, what am doing wrong, any help please!!! and can someone please explain what does home content mean? to record programmes i either need a memeory stick for the usb port or to connect to home content, hope i make sense as this is all very new to me and bein female probaly doesnt help!!! many thanks jo
    jo asked on
    1. Jo - it all very confusing when you first get this telly.

with respect to the web browsing - if you press the options button a side menu comes up and you can type in a url or do searches etc, you can also set your preferred web home page...the Sony one is a pain in the arse.

Home content is if you have hard drives with photos, movies, music etc on your network. You can set the TV up to access them directly. Alternately you can just plug in an usb external hard drive with the same content into you TV directly for the same effect.

On a similar note- you can also use the TVs recording functions to record programmes on to an external hard drive via the USB port (or as you suggest a big capacity memory stick)
      Graham replied on

  3. Hi, what accessories do I need to buy to be able to see 3D TV?
    Justin asked on
    1. You just need to buy the sony glasses at £80 a pair. each company has set up their own format of interlacing the images so there is no cheap generic solution

      Graham replied on

  4. Just got this TV and am finding the picture very dark compared to my last Sony.
I have tried everything and no the ECO setting is set to off. Any suggestions?
    Ronnie asked on
    1. Apart from stating the obvious of changing the settings which we have done, maybe it could be tilted slightly. Sorry I can't be more helpful.
      Diane replied on

  5. does the mono speak stand come in the box or in a separate box at time of purchase
    nigel asked on
    1. If memory serves me correctly the speaker stand came in a seperate box.
      William replied on

  6. I am considering buying this TV, however Does it have a provision for wall mounting?
    Ronie asked on
    1. Yes I believe it does although I have not mounted mine on the wall. It would look super as it is so slim.
      Diane replied on

    2. It can be wall mounted but not with the sound bar it comes with. I would seek advice from a Sony centre or other supplier first.
      alan replied on

  7. How do I connect an iPod (Touch) to play music through the TV? I've connected the iPod using one of the USB ports but the TV only picks up photos not music. Any pointers will be much appreciated.
    Richard asked on
    1. You'll need an audio in cable to plug into the left hand side of the tv. It will look like a headphone cable on both sides
      Benjamin replied on

  8. Hi I got this tv, i would like to know how we can download widgets in it?
    mamatha asked on
    1. The TV has a small selection of widgets with it that can be easily activted. I am not aware that users can download others. Suggest you ask Sony.
      Charles replied on

  9. cant make my mind up on this tv or kdl40hx with 200hz and 400hz motion flow?? help
    lou asked on
    1. Hi, before the kdlnx723, which has a 200hz refresh rate, I had the kdl32w5500 with 100hz refresh. To be perfectly honest, I can't say I've noticed a great deal of improvement in blur except with sport. The new picture engine is a vast improvement over the Bravia3 engine. Im a bit techie so main reason for purchase was for the inbuilt wifi which allows me to view most of my PC stuff on the TV, stream movies via Lovefilm and all the tv catchup stuff.
