Score 5.0/10
Good points:
can choose to have tall boy speakers where you like as all the speakers can have the base changed. can control tv with the same remote. lots of internet features and its very easy to use.
Bad points:
its main unit is very big, bigger than most blu-ray players. an collects so much dust. the bass is not very good at all i expected much better as its 1000w. it takes ages to start up once turned on from the plug then you have to turn it on again on the main unit an changeing from 1 feature to another also takes to long. also the wireless spakers aint wirless at all. you have a wireless reciever about the size of 2 dvd cases on top of each other wich has to be plugged in with cables going to both speakers so in fact its got more wires to hide but the wireless sender an reciver interfear with my wireless router so when im using the surround sound system i can not connect to the internet on any of my computers or phones which is really bad. dont bother paying more for it to wiresless its really not worth. think twice before getting this.

Here’s a list of the questions other shoppers have asked owners of the Sony BDV-IZ1000W

  1. hello. i want to know if , all the speakers are wireless.
    john asked on
    1. no they are not. The front 3 speakers an sub are all wired to the main unit. And the back 2 speakers are wired to a separate wireless receiver which has to be plugged in to the mains. So not really wireless at all you just dont have to hide cables from across the room but still have 2 hide the cables at the other end plus a bigish wireless receiver an which needs to be near a socket to power it.
      darren replied on

  2. Does the unit have a optical input so I can use it with my TV? also the tall boy's are they for the front or rear or does it not matter?
    Lee asked on
    1. Hi
The system has two optical inputs for TV and SAT, brilliant. The tall speakers are for the front BUT they can be used at the back (they are exactly the same) or you can take the speakers off the stands so you have small oness back and front. Very versatile.
      Hope that helps
      Regards
      Derek
      Derek replied on

    2. Hi
The unit does have 2 optical inputs. For better sound quality you should use this method of connection. Use a high quality cable if possible.

      Best regards

      David

  3. Can anyone give me the sub-woofer dimensions
    Jack asked on
    1. Yes it is 270mmwide 270mm deep and 400mm high
      David replied on

  4. Can all the speakers be hard wired and not use the separate wireless receiver ?

Also is the subwoofer connected by phono push in cable as i have laid this cable behind my skirting or does it require normal speaker cable ?
    Lalji asked on
    1. the sub is just normal speaker cable. All speakers have to be hard wired. Fronts an sub to main unit an rears to the wireless receiver unit which has to be plugged into the mains. So its not really wireless as you in fact have more cables to hide plus the receiver aswell which is like 2 dvd cases on top of eachother
      hope this helps.

  5. i am trying to use the kdl32w5500 lcd with the bdv i have 1 hdmi connected to the arc and an optical to the tv inoput I get the BDV to play the TV on switches the bdv on and off with the tv but the sound from the tv with the bdv connected and on does not come out of the bdv dispite the tv saying it has connected to the bdv and is using its audio output. I have been through the manuals for both and can not see what I am doing wrong. Now I am thinking I need another HDMI connection to connect the tv sound to the BDV
    Andrew asked on
    1. hi. Not sure if i can help. Ive got a optical lead going from my tv to the optical tv in on my surround sound i then just turn the surround sound system to tv optical from the function button on remote an it works fine.but it also works just fine with a hdmi lead. Not sure what you mean by arc though
      darren replied on

    2. Hi . I have mine connected from the BDV by both a HDMI cable and optical cable to the TV.
I have a HDMI connection from a Sky+ HD box to the TV and an optical cable from the Sky box to the BDV.
      Hope this helps you.
      David replied on

  6. can i connect my hard disk with USB port and watch movies via hard disk ?
    baber asked on
    1. your hard disk has to be in FAT32 format and you can watch any movie as long as it is under the 4GB FAT32 allotment partition

  7. Hello, Can we also search webs by it's Bravia Internet video on TV or it just for video , musics and so on...? Thank u
    Rayan asked on
    1. Hello
As far as i know you cannot search websites other than those allready loaded. Sony do update the internet content from time to time but the system cannot be used as a computer.

      Hope this helps.

      David
      David replied on

    2. NO you cant you can only look at sites already on it. Please look at other systems aswell as this it no where near 1000w and the base from the sub is a let down and its not wireless at all in fact you have to have another socket near by an hide the wireless reciever by freind got a samsung for £350 and its much louder than this and also sony systems only play phat32 media format limited to 4gb but samsung uses nfts format media therefore if you use a harddrive for storing movies you wont be able to play them on sony im changing my system soon to samsung its much better much louder and more features
      darren replied on

  8. guys do you know if this system will work in a 110V environment or it is just for europe i.e. 220-240V? if not is there a way around it? planning to move to a country where voltage is 110V
    victor asked on
    1. Hi There
The model imported into the UK is 220-240volts only.

      Hope this helps
      David replied on
