- Good points:
- Excellent picture and sound quality,
- Bad points:
- Takes time to load the Blue ray discs, Some discs do not load unless you enter the menu and change settings then you have to switch the player of and restart it to let the changes take effect, it would help if the player could detect and change the settings automatically.

Manufacturer's Description
Revel in astounding HD clarity with the BDP-S350 Blu-ray™ Disc player. Featuring BD-Live™ compatibility*, you can take full advantage of the Bonus View feature of select Blu-ray movies as well as acquire the latest features and updates as they become available. This player also outputs a Full 1080/24p True Cinema picture, plus upscales your existing DVD collection to 1080p when using the HDMI™ connection. Superior picture quality isn’t the only thing you’ll notice, the BDP-S350 comes with Dolby® TrueHD™ which delivers sound as stunning as the high definition picture itself. Bringing it all together is the new icon based Xcross Media Bar, which provides simple navigation of the player’s menu system.
- Upgrade to BD-Live by connecting your player to a high speed internet connection and by adding USB flash memory (not supplied).
Bonus View
Bonus View feature provides “picture-in-picture” capability with select Blu-ray Disc titles — useful for viewing director or actor commentary while the movie plays.
BD-Live Ready (will be available by firmware update)
BD-Live (when firmware update becomes available) brings you the next generation of interactivity, allowing you to download and stream bonus content such as additional scenes, shorts, trailers, movie-based games, and more.
Full HD 1080/60 p & 24p True Cinema Video Output
Most of all Hollywood movies are shot at 24 frames per second, and Blu-ray Disc™ movies are mastered at 24 frame per second, so it is only fitting that the Sony® Blu-ray Disc™ Players can output your films at 1080/24p for a true film-like experience at home. Of course, Sony® Blu-ray Disc™ Players can also output at 1080/60p for more traditional HDTV sets on the market. Either way Sony® has you covered for the best picture possible in Full 1080p!
Quick start-up mode
Quick start-up mode allows operation in Approximately 6 seconds from when Sony® Blu-ray Disc™ player is powered on.
Dolby® TrueHD decoder built-in
Dolby TrueHD delivers lossless studio master quality audio designed specifically for high definition entertainment like Blu-ray Disc™. An incredible sound stage, dynamic range and a stellar Home Theater experience await you with Dolby TrueHD.
Dolby® TrueHD /DTS®-HD bitstream out over HDMI™ (V1.3)
Dolby TrueHD/DTS-HD gives you sound quality that matches the crystal clear image of Blu-ray Disc™. With up to 7.1 channels of surround sound and audio that is indistinguishable from the original studio version, Dolby TrueHD/DTS-HD promises you an extraordinary surround experience.
DVD upscale to 1080p
DVD Upscaling via HDMI™ gets the most out of your existing DVD collection by upscaling standard definition video to near HD quality.
Precision Cinema HD Upscale
Precision Cinema HD upscale uses high bandwidth digital-to-analog conversion and processing to detect image changes at the pixel level, rather than at the level of whole scan lines. Additionally, separate algorithms are used to process the moving and still parts of an image, resulting in sharp backgrounds with moving objects that are free from motion artifacts.
x.v.Color™ for AVC-HD
xvYCC color standard – Support for the international xvYCC color standard produces images with 1.8x the color space of the traditional RGB color standard, resulting in images with more natural and vivid color reproduction.
BRAVIA™ Sync
As a leader in products with HDMI™ connectivity, Sony has created BRAVIA® Sync to go beyond simple audio and video transmission. When combined with a select number of BRAVIA® televisions and other Sony audio and video products, in addition to audio and video transmission, control functions will betransmitted via the HDMI™ cable. With “One Touch Play,” operations that took several steps have been reduced to one. Press the PLAY button on the remote, watch the audio and/or the video component(s) turn on then the BRAVIA® television turn on and switch to the correct video input. Simple…Easy…BRAVIA® Sync.
Ether port for Network Update
Ethernet port provides connectivity to a home broadband connection so you can download network updates
USB port for BD-Live External Memory
USB Port lets you connect USB flash-based memory (sold separately) for BD-Live1 External Memory.
Xross Media Bar™ (XMB™)

Here’s a list of the questions other shoppers have asked owners of the Sony BDP-S350
-
I bought my Sony-BDP-S350 blueray player 3 years ago.
i would like to know can we play You-tube or any internet channels through BDP-S350 Blueray plyer?
Does this player has "Internet Streaming Services" ??
Can we do anything to it so that it can play Youtube? (apart from buying new Blueray player)
Thanks-
Regretfully, I have no idea! I only use mine to play DVD's. Sorry I cannot answer your question. Perhaps you may have to buy a new Blueray player? Technology is moving forward so fast those days, its hard to keep up, of course that is what the manufacturers want!
-
I have never seen the need as we run our links to the net on a PVR instead. The Sony BDP-S350 does have an ethernet connector however for software updates and for those BD's that have web links, so try that by connecting wirelessly to your broadband router. It is on page 51 of the manual
-
Not that I am aware of, you can set up the BD Live service to receive up to the minute features on movies via broadband, but no internet services as such are available. My suggestion is to update your player as previously suggested to receive these features. Hope this helps.
