The important bit - The picture is great. This is my first plasma, and my socks have truly been knocked off.
The realisim and depth of colours is fantastic.
Price - Pay for the picture rather than the ultra slim design. - Bad points:
-
One consideration is that its 90mm deep. It still looks great wall mounted, but couldnt be described as the discrete 'painting' look. But when was a 50" TV on the wall ever going to be subtle. The same panel in a slim set costs over twice the price.
Active 3D glasses - Old tech now. I have no plans to use the 3D so i didnt care. But a big 3D fan should go for the passive (non flicker) tech.

TV Buyers GuideManufacturer's Description
FULL HD 3D Plasma with Infinite Black Pro, 600Hz Sub-field Drive Intelligent Frame Creation Pro and THX Mode
The VT20 Series includes a DVB-S tuner for Freesat HD and a DVB-T2 tuner for Freeview HD providing you with a convenient, subscription free way of watching HD contents like sport, as well as your favourite soaps, dramas and documentaries in full HD glory wherever you are in the UK.
FULL HD 3D makes you feel as if you’d stepped out of your living room and into the world on the screen. The viewing experience has never been so lifelike and compelling. The technology in which the left-eye and right-eye 3D images are sent to the viewer is the key to 3D image quality. For this, FULL HD 3D uses something called the Frame Sequential technology. A separate 1920×1080 full-HD image is sent to each eye. This addresses the image quality problems and blurring that were common to previous 3D systems, and creates sharp, crisp 3D images.
A contrast ratio of 5,000,000:1 enables VIERA to display extremely robust blacks. A new panel and improvements to the cell discharge area dramatically increase contrast when viewing in brightly lit locations. And reducing the electrical pre-discharge that causes greying has greatly enhanced black gradation. As a result, deep, rich blacks are displayed in virtually any viewing area, from living rooms to bedrooms. Even in dark film scenes, clothing textures and individual strands of hair are clearly reproduced.
600Hz Sub-field Drive technology lets you view superb full-HD motion and still images with 1,080 lines of resolution. For even greater clarity with motion images, Panasonic uses its own unique image-analysis technology. This technology converts the motion in each scene into data. And each frame is practically displayed for a shorter length of time than in previous systems, to reduce aftereffects. When using Cinema mode.
THX reproduces film images exactly as the film’s creators intended them. The overall aim was to improve the experience of cinema-goers and faithfully recreate the audio and visual ambience that filmmakers intended. To receive THX certification, TVs undergo stringent tests to determine, for example, whether the exact same brightness and colour are displayed at all screen locations, and whether black levels satisfy standard criteria. VIERA meets the high standards set by the THX Certified Display Program.
Enjoy Internet content right on your TV. With VIERA CAST you can enjoy online videos, photos, and more. You can also check sports, news, weather and stock information with an easy-to-use Web interface that’s built into the TV. What’s more, VIERA CAST’s assorted online content has new additions, including the remarkably popular Skype and Twitter applications. VIERA CAST not only offers unique web entertainment but also expands your forms of communication.

please help I have found this tv at my local store comes with 2 pairs glasses and 4 films plus 3d blu-ray player for £1499 is this worth it or should i wait for next model thanks d rosevear
-
I would say "go for it!!!". If the 4 films include Avatar 3D(this is outstanding, and would cost you £60 on E-bay) 3D player thrown in too!!! You may find you have to send off for the films.
The TV is outstanding- takes a bit of setting up, but you can E-mail me for settings I am using.
I am sure the new models will be quite expensive when they first come out (after speaking with retailers before I bought mine) -
Depends if you are prepaired to hang on,its seems hard to emagine how they can improve the set.Iwould buy it.
Chris.

Hi many thanks for your answers , I have now purchased this telly after getting the 4 films a free 5year warranty and a 3d blu-ray cinema kit for total £1599.
please could you email me your settings so i can get it right many thanks-
I use the following: Contrast at 75%, Brightness at 52%, Colour at 55% and warm, Sharpness off, hope this helps.
-
For starters, go into "Set up", "Other settings", and set "Intelligent frame creation" to off.
For the rest it is better if I tell you to goto Panasonic web site, click on the viera 3d TV picture. Now the centre picture (with Avatar showing) has "Read JAmes Cameron's special advice". click on this and follow the settings.....
To get to "24p smooth film" & "3D 24 film display", you will need a 3D film playing.
Hope this helps......

Depends what you want to watch if it's movies, sport and general TV then Plasma is the way to go, if it's games etc the LED would be better

-
Is there agreat deal of difference between the VT20b and theVT30b? And does the price difference justify this?
-
