- Good points:
- Fantastic depth, picture movement and sharpness.
- Bad points:
- Although the set up is easy, the other features are quite tricky and a false move can leave you without a channel for half and hour whilst you try and re-set!

- Good points:
- Excellent picture quality and easy to use. Design is very stylish and is finished in a "grey/silver metal" effect. I did a lot of research prior to this purchase and this television lives up to my expectations. Sound could be better, but that is being really critical. No problem at all if linked to a cinema sound unit.
- Bad points:
- Sound could be better, if you were being really critical.

- Good points:
- Did not want 3D as technology will change several times before standard adopted. The Panasonic TX-P42V20B has the best picture to be found on any 2D TV. Would highly recommend.
- Bad points:
- Sound quality better than most flat panel TVs, with three speakers, but still benefits from being connected to home cinema system.

- Good points:
- Stunning TV. HD and most SD sources look incredible, though steer clear of some of the picture presets (Dynamic especially) - THX or Professional modes recommended (worth tweaking a bit). Sound not great straight out the box but with some careful EQ adjustments in the User setting (boost lower and higher frequencies and cut the mids a bit) a perfectly reasonable sound can be achieved. Rig it up to a hifi or surround setup for best results though. The brushed metal design makes it a beautiful object in the living room (much more so than I expected), far classier than the ubiquitous black plastic of most TVs. The screen is impressively non-reflective too so it's 'discreet' when off and works well when viewed in bright daylight. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!
- Bad points:
- I've noticed a very occasional flicker, but only with certain HD material when the room is in darkness, and only then in certain muted, shadowy, low-lit scenes. The TV is still running in and hasn't been fully calibrated yet so it may be a teething issue. My partner hasn't noticed anything and I'm probably being over-picky but I expected a very high standard from such a high-spec TV. Then again, nothing's 100% perfect in the world of tech...

TV Buyers GuideManufacturer's Description
Full-HD NeoPDP with Freeview HD & Freesat HD built-in, Infinite Black Pro, 600Hz Sub-field Drive Intelligent Frame Creation Pro and THX Mode
The V20 Series includes a DVB-S tuner for Freesat HD and a DVB-T2 tuner for Freeview HD providing you with a convenient, subscription free way of watching HD contents like sport, as well as your favourite soaps, dramas and documentaries in full HD glory wherever you are in the UK*.
A contrast ratio of 5,000,000:1 enables VIERA to display extremely robust blacks. A new panel and improvements to the cell discharge area dramatically increase contrast when viewing in brightly lit locations. And reducing the electrical pre-discharge that causes greying has greatly enhanced black gradation. As a result, deep, rich blacks are displayed in virtually any viewing area, from living rooms to bedrooms. Even in dark film scenes, clothing textures and individual strands of hair are clearly reproduced.
600Hz Sub-field Drive technology lets you view superb full-HD motion and still images with 1,080 lines of resolution. For even greater clarity with motion images, Panasonic uses its own unique image-analysis technology. This technology converts the motion in each scene into data. And each frame is practically displayed for a shorter length of time than in previous systems, to reduce aftereffects. *When using Cinema mode.
THX reproduces film images exactly as the film’s creators intended them. The overall aim was to improve the experience of cinema-goers and faithfully recreate the audio and visual ambience that filmmakers intended. To receive THX certification, TVs undergo stringent tests to determine, for example, whether the exact same brightness and colour are displayed at all screen locations, and whether black levels satisfy standard criteria. VIERA meets the high standards set by the THX Certified Display Program.
