- Good points:
- Simple and Easy to use, Very good image quality - even at low resolution the print quality is good. All the features work as they say they do. Small to fit in pocket and gives SLR run for its money.
- Bad points:
-
Does not have a standard USB cable to connect to PC.
GPS wastes battery life and hence I switch it off and use the manual location selection option. The auto-stich-panaramic option is alittle fiddly but works.

- Good points:
- I normally use a SLR camera, so the Lumix is a new learning curve for me. I miss a viewfinder. The zoom lever moves too fast and I find it difficult to get in just where I want to focus. With practice I'm sure I'll get used to this.
- Bad points:
- None so far.

Digital Cameras Buyers' GuideManufacturer's Description
Super Zoom Camera TZ10 – 25mm Ultra Wide-angle 12x Optical Zoom (16x Intelligent Zoom) Camera with AVCHD Lite Movie Recording featuring GPS.
The 12.1-megapixel DMC-TZ10 features a 25mm wide-angle 12x optical zoom f/3.3-4.9 LEICA DC VARIO-ELMAR lens (35mm camera equivalent: 25-300mm) in a compact body. The 25mm wide-angle lens has about twice the shooting area of the standard 35mm lens. The powerful 12x zoom can also be used in motion picture recording. In 3-megapixel resolution mode, the Extra Optical Zoom function provides additional magnification, extending the zoom power to 23.4x by using the center part of the CCD.
The Intelligent Resolution (I.R) Technology gives a high resolution look to digital zoom images as well as ordinary images. The image is divided into contour areas, texture areas and smooth areas. And optimum image processing is applied to each type of area. This enables 16x Intelligent Zoom that achieves about 1.3 times the usual zoom magnification with almost no loss of image quality. The Intelligent Resolution Technology also achieves sharp images in modes that use fewer pixels to enable high sensitivity and high speed.
The DMC-TZ10 can record HD movie of 720P in AVCHD Lite with high sound quality of Digital Stereo Creator. Motion JPEG format is also available (1,280 × 720 pixels). Just press the Motion Picture Button, and shooting begins. The iA Mode can also be activated in motion picture recording. When the DMC- TZ10 is connected to a Panasonic VIERA via an optional mini HDMI cable, the TV’s remote control unit can be used to enjoy playing back with greater convenience.
The DMC-TZ10 features the Travel Mode function with GPS. You can quickly go into the Travel Mode from the top menu and organize various information related to your travel. When shooting, the photo location and local time information from GPS is recorded in the photo. When playing back, automatic sort & slideshow by shooting location is possible. In addition, P/A/S/M Mode for more creative shots is added to the DMC-TZ10. You can enjoy shooting when traveling even before you know it.
The POWER O.I.S. nearly doubles the hand-shake correction power of conventional MEGA O.I.S. So you can take beautiful night shots without blurring. Activating POWER O.I.S., Intelligent ISO Control, Face Detection AF/AE with Face Recognition, Intelligent Scene Selector with Sunset Mode, Intelligent Exposure and AF Tracking, the camera does all the work in the iA Mode. And Happy Mode is newly added to the DMC-TZ10 and optimizes color saturation and brightness for vividly memorable scenes.

Here’s a list of the questions other shoppers have asked owners of the Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ10
-
can i use the tz10 as a camcorder or i'm i just better off buying a camcorder
-
Yes it can be used as a video recorder. But as I have said mine is the TZ9 which is exactly the same as the TZ10 but without the GPS. I shot a small video and it was very good, I understand that there maybe problems with the download facility software for the TZ10. On a personal note, a camcorder is probably the best way to go, and use the TZ8,9 or 10 as a camera, I have just bought my wife a camcorder for Christmas, so we will now have the best of both worlds.
Good luck with whatever your choice is, but I have to say I am very impressed with the TZ9, its a great camera and gives out good results.

I am seriously considering this camera after losing my trusty Fuji . I had the facility to edit my pictures before printing and I found this invaluable. Can I do this with the TZ10 ? I think a "yes" answer would make up my mind. Any help from users would be appreciated. Thanks.
Patricia-
If you mean trim the pics then yes, there may be other software with the camera, but I havent been able to find it yet, because I so pleased with the results I have had so far. I use Photoshop Elements to edit anyway. Hope that helps.

-
i need a camera that can store the date and time taken on the image when it is saved - i have just bought a sony cybershot but it doesnt have this facility. Can you datestamp images with the panasonicDMC-TZ10?
-
No I dont think it can... But as all cameras have the image date and time in the jpeg file you will just need some s/w to import the image and place it on top as an overlay and resave it. not sure if there is some s/w that will do it in batch but will be cheaper than a new camera...
-
-
i am confuse which one is better between DMC-TZ8 or DMC-TZ10
-
There is a lot of confusion really and prices do vary, but the only difference is that the TZ10 has GPS tagging, which will via satelite give you the information where and when the photo was taken. That is all, the camre throughout all the ranges TZ8, TZ9 and TZ10 have the same lense and user friendly attributes. So, it depends wether you want GPS or not.
Hope that helps.

-
Can you tern the GPS off permenently or does it default to on each time you turn on the camera
-
Sorry, I brought this camera for my daughter and I just asked her and she doesn't know. However I can say that she absolutely loves it and has taken it every where she goes for the past 3 months. The picture quality is excellent and she loves every aspect of it. I'm pretty sure there would be an option to turn the GPS off permantly, as it really seems to be a camera that has everything covered. Sorry I can't be more help!
-
-
I'm considering the TZ10 largely due to lens quality and range of manual options. I'd like to know more about these manual options - do they merely allow aperture and speed options or is there some way of manual focusing? Thanks for your help.
-
There is a manual option, not that I have used that a lot, the intelligent auto it does everything I want so I stick to that, of course on manual you cant actually moved the lense other than using the zoom switch so it isnt like a digital slr. Hope that helps....

i am led to believe its made from metal but a shop example (albeit a display model) was deffinately plastic. i want something durable for a trip to the far east.
-

-
Yeap, it's metal!
-
-
Can you turn the GPS off?
-
Yes.... I havent used the gps on it. PS This camera takes excelent Audio @ loud venues.....
-
-
I cannot seem to take video with it. it keeps saying that the camera is not formatted. Cannot find out how to format it. Can anybody assist me with this problem please.
-
Sorry, I asked my daughter whose camera it is and she doesn't know! Her's worked from the word go. Sure it's not a problem with the memory card????
