- Good points:
- You'd never know that this camera is now a generation old, and that makes it great value for money. The spec covers everything you could reasonably want from a compact camera - the Leica lens is well worth having, the camera is compact and very light, and the battery life is very good.
- Bad points:
- Slight creaky noise from the spring on the zoom rocker lever and the battery/SD card hatch is perhaps a little to easy to open accidentally - but that's being very picky.

- Good points:
-
Easy to use and intuitive in use. This is the first digital camera that I have owned, my other camera being a Rikoh SLR (not digital). So far I have been very pleased and impressed with the picture quality and ease of use. Very easy to transfer shots to computer or show on TV, etc. I look forward to exploring the more complicated features in the future.
Some reviewers have commented on difficulty in retrieving the battery for charging. I have found no difficulty.
Very good value for money. - Bad points:
- I haven't found any so far!

- Bad points:
- The white balance is a little bit over

- Good points:
- Excellent lens. Lots of special effects (if you want to use them). Good quality build.
- Bad points:
- As with most compact cameras the controls are small and you need to be careful when pressing buttons to make sure it is the right one.

Digital Cameras Buyers' GuideManufacturer's Description
Compact Digital Camera FX60 – 25mm Wide-angle LEICA DC Lens in a Sleek, Slim Body and Advanced iA Mode with POWER O.I.S.
POWER O.I.S. is about twice as effective as MEGA O.I.S. at reducing low-frequency vibration-caused blur when pressing the shutter button or shooting with a slow shutter speed. So you can take beautiful night shots without blurring. Activating POWER O.I.S., Intelligent ISO Control, Face Detection AF/AE with Face Recognition, Intelligent Scene Selector, Intelligent Exposure and AF Tracking, the camera does all the work in the iA Mode. Face Recognition function recognizes registered persons’ faces and optimizes the focus and exposure settings.
The DMC-FX60 features a 25mm ultra wide-angle 5x optical zoom f/2.8-5.9 LEICA DC VARIO-ELMARIT lens (35mm equivalent: 25-125mm). Panasonic achieved the world’s first incorporation of 0.3mm super thin aspherical lens and industry first 0.3mm spherical lens into the newly developed lens unit. This makes it possible to fit the 25-125mm high performance lens in a slim and compact body. Furthermore, in 3-megapixel resolution, the Extra Optical Zoom function provides additional magnification, extending the zoom power to 9.8x (35mm equivalent: 244mm).
To realize the ultra high-speed AF, a number of re-engineering and improvements are made including the adaptation of higher-speed actuator, the optimization of algorithms and the parallelization of software processing element. The result is ultra high speed yet accurate AF performance for users to enjoy the airy shooting that has experienced never before. Panasonic also replaced its linear program processing with parallel processing to achieve an ultra high-speed start-up of 1.1 seconds.
The DMC-FX60 can record motion pictures in high-definition (1,280 × 720 pixels at 30 fps in Motion JPEG format). The pixel mixed readout method enables bright motion-picture recording even in low-light settings. With HD component output capability, you can enjoy watching HD motion pictures in stunning HD quality taken by your DMC-FX60 by simply connecting the camera to an HDTV via an optional component cable DMW-HDC2.
The DMC-FX60’s 2.7-inch LCD features a high 230,000-dot resolution, and a wide-viewing angle that lets you frame your shot in a variety of ways for both shooting and viewing. LUMIX’s acclaimed Intelligent LCD function also automatically adjusts the brightness in 11 steps according to shooting conditions. This LCD provides sharp, clear images in virtually all shooting situations, ranging from nighttime to bright daylight scenes and from low-angle to high-angle shooting. And it lets you share the fun of viewing images with family and friends.
