- Good points:
- Very precise, ergonomically sophisticated mouse.
- Bad points:
- The software lacks features and is insufficiently customisable. Using the supplied software I couldn't assign 'Show Desktop' or 'Print Screen' to hardware buttons and there is no simple way to set the DPI resolution of the mouse. These would be easy features to offer, so why not do so?

Manufacturer's Description
Overview
You work and play all over the place—and that means you’re going to encounter all sorts of work surfaces. A glass desk or shiny table shouldn’t stand in your way.
That’s why we created Logitech® Darkfield Laser Tracking™, featured in the Logitech® Anywhere Mouse MX™ and the Logitech® Performance Mouse MX™.
Darkfield tracks on surfaces like clear glass* and lacquered desks that stump optical mice and standard laser mice. So now your mouse works wherever you do.
It’s all in the details
Optical and traditional laser mice use irregularities in the surface to track the direction and speed of your mouse. The more irregularities on a surface, the easier it is for the sensor to track your movements.
But use your mouse on a smooth, glossy surface like clear glass, and there just aren’t enough imperfections for your standard mouse to work. This is where Darkfield Laser Tracking comes in. Darkfield uses the smallest possible details to create a micro-road map of the surface—so you get better precision on more surfaces.

Is it worth the money compared to other top-spec mouses?
-
I've not really tried any other top end mice but having said that, this is certainly the best of everything I looked at when I bought it (around a 9 months ago?) I find it very ergonomic and responsive and I also use the flywheel scroll a lot. I use it with a Mac and had previously used the Apple Magic Mouse. This one was dreadful for ergonomics and gave me RSI. The batteries also ran out on it very quickly. The Logitech MX battery lasts for ages. Also the very small USB receiver is great if you're using a laptop. I wouldn't say it's my perfect mouse, but it is very good in many respects.
I hope that's some help! -
No! It's good but not perfect - it's failings for me are 'dragging' and when clicking on a tab unless I'm very quick it also closes or clicks the tab underneath. This may be because I run Win 7 through Bootcamp on an Apple Mac Pro, my friend doesn't have these issues on his Dell. Having said that I have been disappointed with other top-end Logitech mice in the past, though this one is the best to date. Among other mice I use are the Apple wireless Magic Mouse which is better for 'dragging' than the Logitech but not so good overall, and the Microsoft wireless Notebook Presenter 8000 which I only bought yesterday to use with a MacBook again running Win 7. Initial impresion of this one is, a bit small but fast response and easy to use, I wouldn't be surprised if this doesn't become my favourite over the next few days. I also have an Apple Trackpad, can't get on with this and wouldn't recommend it.

Hi. Does the performance mx have volume control like it's previous generation mx revolution?
-
Yes it is straight forward to assign another function to the mouse keys. There is a choice with other at the bottom. This opens a drop down list of 30+ options where volume up and down are selections. The help file gives info on the "mx air" mouse which has gesture controls where you wave the mouse around to change volume and track. I use the volume key on my keyboard. But I have assigned a couple of keys on the mouse to test it and it works fine. I have no experience with the previous generation of the mx.

Hi! Can you tell me which is the better, the MX Revolution or MX Performance. I have the MX Revolution but cannot make up my mind wether to go for the MX Performance. My thanks to you if answered.
-
I've only used one of them so cannot compare. If you Google 'mx revolution vs performance mx' you'll find at least one video review comparing them...
Best,

I've only used the MX Performance so can't compare. Regards, D.

Please advise on the wheel middle button function and performance in this mouse as this button is constantly used in my work.
-
The button next to the wheel switches it between a typical detented mode and a continuous 'freewheel' mode. The former works like any other mouse whilst the 'freewheel' is useful for quick scrolling (you spin it and it just keeps going) or when you need slightly finer control since it doesn't have the detents. This can also be tricky though since it seems more sensitive in this mode.
The 3rd mouse button under the wheel is difficult to use since it doesn't always trigger and often causes the page to scroll up or down due to the pressure put on it. The side to side jog of the wheel can be useful though a bit difficult to control.
I hope that helps.
