George, Cambs Gadget fiend
- Good points:
-
Easy to set up and use out of the box
Works brilliantly, and really useful in my daily work
Comfortable to use, even though I have small hands
Battery life very impressive
Connectivity great, and never any trouble with it not being recognised or not doing what it's supposed to do
Generally an all around delight. - Bad points:
- None related to the product itself. But I do wish that android PDF readers were capable of linking the audio to the PDF as my PC readers can. But that will probably come in time, and viewing the Livescribe web interface solves that problem anyway.

Here’s a list of the questions other shoppers have asked owners of the Livescribe Echo Smartpen 2GB
-
Is this product worth the money? how is it to write with?
-
Well worth the money! It's fine to write with and I would reccomend it to anyone
-
I bought it for my husband and although it is quite thick, he says he finds it easy to write with. He is very pleased with it! Excellent for his course he is doing and yes it is worth the money.

Well im 14 and i have trouble keeping up with the teacher when writing notes will this pen help?
-
It won't really help in a classroom unless the teacher allows you to talk into it to take notes using the dictaphone on it!

Hi - I am thinking of purchasing one of these smartpens for taking minutes with. Will it pick up everything that is said in a meeting? I am not quite sure of how it works. I know I write with it and tap the paper to record my notes but wonder if you can explain how it works.
Many thanks.-
Hi Rosemary. We haven't used it for the voice recorder as yet, but purely for the writing element. However re writing you buy a special notepad (which aren't that dear - about £12 for 4 x A5) and before you use it properly it goes through a writing analysis to ensure that it picks up your particular style of writing. The paper is special as it has many 1000s of dots in it in order to pick up the handwriting. If you wish to transfer your writing to alterable text you can download software online to be able to alter in word I believe. A colleague has had one for nearly a year and has said that he cannot recommend it more highly as it has saved him so much time re notes. Hope this helps.
-
Yes the pen records yours and other voices while your writing
The pen can be adjusted to pick up most noises

Hi am thinking of buying this pen, however on the reviews i read someone mentioned you have to download mysctipt? is this a further cost? can the pen work as well without it? and what is it?
-
I have never needed to download myscript. I did download Livescribe Connect and Livescribe Desktop, but that's just to allow you to forward your notes to various places, and allow the pen to work with your computer. Both are free. You'd only need myscript if you wanted to convert your handwritten notes to digital text. I've never needed to (and I have some doubts about how good it would be with my handwriting anyway!). You can use the pen perfectly well without it and without paying for anything else.
-
I have downloaded myscript. It cost $29 you will only need this if you want to convert your hand written notes to a word document. I have used this alot as I am at uni and also use the pen for minute taking at work. It is then useful to convert to word so the document can be save for future reference.
-
I have not yet downloaded myscript and by the answers already given. I may not need to you. You have to decide what you really need the software/tools for.
