cycle temperatures crap,never a hot wash on 90 ,or 60,the water is always no more than 40 temperature,you have to wash whites more than one time as the heat of the water never gets to the proper temperature.its not worth the money, im not happy with the purchase of this machine,its only worth half what i paid for,.

Does the door stay locked for any length of time after the cycle has finished? My current machine makes me wait for 2 minutes before I can open the door which can be frustrating.

The machine "sings" a little song to let you know the programme is complete and the door is able to be opened straight away then (i.e.it's finished rotating!)
Also the door is easy to open. My old machine needed you to press a button which seemed very fiddly. -
Yes, but it's not as long as 2 minutes - more like 30 seconds although I haven't timed it. The manual states 1-2 minutes, but it doesn't feel that long!

Is it possible to vary the spin speed, and can you spin without rinsing?

The machine has 3 spin speeds 400, 800 and 1400. These can be varied within the programmes eg a sythentic and wool wash will only allow you up to an 800 spin.
There is a spin only choice of programme.
Hope this is helpful. -
You can set your programme onto rinse hold instead of the spin speed it automatically chooses, and then use the speed you want when the cycle has finished, and yes, you can spin without rinsing.

I have just purchased the LGF1488QDP and have just started my first wash with excitement on how quiet the LG machines are supposed to be. I am horrified at the noise this machine makes when filling?? Is this normal?

On our Machine, the fill noise is no worse, than any other Machine that we have used in the past.
But if you feel your Machine is excessively noisy, then it would be advisable to get it checked. -
As I stated in my posting the only noise that I thought needed getting used to was the initial pulsing of the electronic water valve. It pulses about 5 to 7 times depending on wash load. The last pulse starts the filling cycle to the required water level. After using the washer you will get used to the noise created and I don't think that there is a problem with the machine you have as other postings on various sites refer to the same. There is a contact "email" on the manufacturers web site that you could ask them the question.
