- Good points:
-
Very easy to use.
Processor is a noted improvement on my previous BlackBerry phones.
Crisp visuals from amoled screen.
Intuitive user interface. - Bad points:
-
Poor battery life, particularly when web browsing and watching video content - not too bad for normal text and call use.
Predictive auto-correct feature can make your texts a difficult code to break at times.
Sometimes have to manually minimize the keypad to send a text or hit enter to go to a URL. It seems to choose randomly if you have to do this or not, but this isn't a major issue.

Manufacturer's Description
HTC Desire delivers intense brilliance, sharp contrast, and true colors on the expansive 3.7-inch AMOLED display. The 1 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon processor makes the phone incredibly responsive as you multitask from app to app without skipping a beat, while the instinctive HTC Sense experience lets you wield the power of the HTC Desire with the greatest
of ease.
Make It Mine
With the HTC Desire, it’s all about your information, your entertainment, your multimedia … your way. A multitude of HTC Sense widgets makes it easy to transform your Home screen with rich content that personalizes your phone experience.
If you’re a sports junkie or simply love to keep up to date with the latest news, the HTC Desire keeps you in the know with the News application. News makes it easier than ever to collect all your favorite articles from across the web. Choose from a selection of channels that cover top blogs, news sites or sports pages, or get news updates based on the keywords you select.
Stay Close
The HTC Desire excels at helping you stay in touch with the different circles of friends or colleagues in your life. The new People widget lets you bring any group you create on your phone right to the surface for easy access to calling, messaging, emailing or simply checking up on social networking updates.
The HTC Desire simplifies the way that you tend to all of your social networks. With Friend Stream, your interaction with friends across multiple social networks like Facebook®, Twitter™, and Flickr™ are brought into a single easy to follow stream of updates, photo posts, and shared links. Friend Stream also lets you shout out your thoughts or feelings to all your online friends with a single comment that gets broadcast to both Facebook and Twitter.
Discover the Unexpected
HTC Desire offers an expansive display, a blazing-fast processor, and a great interface. On top of that, it has a lot of little design touches that make a big impact on your overall phone experience: like the new ‘Leap’ thumbnail view that lets you easily jump to any of the seven panels on your Home screen, or the polite ringer that lowers the ringer volume when you pick up
the phone.
Your work email, calendar appointments, and contacts, are right there on your phone – you can even look up any company contact in the global address book. The HTC Desire also has enhanced support for Exchange security features such as password protection and remote data wipe. And, if you forget to tell your colleagues that you are taking the much needed day off, you can set the ‘Out of Office’ status right from your phone.
HTC Desire was designed to thrive on the web. The screen size is perfect for mobile browsing, with the high resolution AMOLED display making everything you view ultra crisp. The pinch to zoom feature makes zipping around websites intuitive – the text even automatically reflows when you take a closer look so you don’t have to pan left or right, and the Adobe® Flash® support opens up the vast video and gaming resources of the Internet.
HTC Desire’s browser is designed to do more than simply browse. With just a press and hold you can select text on a page and look it up in Wikipedia or have it converted into your native tongue via Google translation tools.

Here’s a list of the questions other shoppers have asked owners of the HTC Desire
-
Does the poor quality of the battery life, seriously effect the day-to-day use of the phone?? What other major problems have you experienced.
Thanks
John-
Hi John.
I wouldn't say that it seriously affects the use, but I have bought a multitude of chargers to compensate: car charger, portable charger, another mains charger for work. It really is the only thing that lets down the phone, it is a marvelous piece of technology, all be it with a weak battery.

is this phone good for editing and taking pics?
-
Hi.
The camera is good for both pics and video, but as for editing I'm unsure as this wasn't high priority for me. I'm sure if you looked on Android market you would find a free app for this in a few minutes. Alternatively just transfer to your PC and use your normal software.

Does the phone feature a radio
-
Hi.
Yes there is an FM radio built into the phone, as usual you use the bundled earphones (or your own) as the antenna. If you want more, and have WiFi reception, there are Apps for streaming internet radio, the world is your oyster.

-
HI
CAN YOU TELL ME HOW DO THE PHOTOS LOOK ON THE PHONE AND HOW DO THERE LOOK GOOD ON YOUR P.C
THANK YOU-
Hi.
If you are looking to replace your camera, then buy the Nokia N8 as performance is superb. Having said that, the Desire takes very good snaps which look good on both screen and PC. It has a 5mp camera and I find it perfectly acceptable.

Hiya,
How long would the battery last for on an average day of using the desire? For example, using messaging apps and games and social network apps. If it last for up to 10-24 hours i'm satisfied lol
thank you in advance :)-
Hiya Sehb
The battery last an avg of a good 12 hour full on.
Lol -
Hiya Sehb,
I agree with Bernard - 12 hours, I use it alot for social networking apps and texting.
Cheers, Ellie.

a couple of things...
1. How fast is the internet?
2. What is the screen quality like?
3. Is the screen small because it looks quite small in the picture...
Thanks/Danke/Merci ;)
Amy xxx-
The internet is very fast and has good WiFi coverage, the screen is about 3 inches in length and can be used vertical or horizontal, and is great quality. Hopes this helps :-)

Has anyone changed the battery from 1400 Mah standard to 2400 Mah, i see you have to change the back though to accomodate the larger battery?
-
When it comes to batteries, you're better off steering clear of cheap makes as from experience they are rubbish. Until HTC bring out an official battery and cover (and I haven't seen one yet) don't bother. You will regeret it. There are portable plug in chargers though which will be a better option, like 'power monkey' etc for £20.

-
I'm debating whether to go for an iPhone or HTC. Shld I wait until I can afford the iPhone or is the HTC a good enough buy? I don't do games, facebook etc. but do rely on the 'phone away from home so battery life is a biggie. Camera and ebooks also useful 'extra.
-
HTC is very good but I'm having to charge battery more than I did for my Sony Ericcson, at the moment I'm just learning how to use it myself.
-
The phone is an excellent rival to the iPhone in my opinion, I have had an iPhone and actually prefer the HTC. While the battery life can be a pain, simple things like adjusting the screen time out can preserve battery life, also if you dont intend to use it for lots of Wifi / 3G action, your battery will last longer. A number of 3rd party apps can be found in the market place that preserve/boost battery life also.
-
Battery life is something that will be used up quicker with any touchscreen phone....I am very happy with the HTC. The camera is great quality and with apps such as footprints making fab use of the camera and remembering places u have been it makes the HTC a great choice. I did a lot of research before deciding on the HTC as I was aslo contemplating going for the iPhone. I believe I have made the right choice in the HTC.

What's it like for texting - what is the keyboard layout like?
-
absolutely no problems QWERTY on screen very fast txting easy nice large screen

This phone seems a dream. Ive always had sony eric, cyber shot was my last one. I love taking pictures out and about. Apart from the battery, what are the downsides to this phone? the hidden niggles?
-
Hi Snappyeye,
Thanks for your question. To be completely honest, the battery issue is genuinely the only problem I have come across so far.
-
-
hi can i link emails to my hotmail account
thanks jen
-
yes. pop3.
-
Yes you can
-
-
how can i conect my phone to my laptop
-
Via bluetooth or USB. The phone comes with a USB cable, with which you can also use to charge the phone from your laptop. Bluetooth is slower for data transfer, but you have the ease of use by not having the phone physically connected to the computer. Which one is best for you is your choice.
-
-
What is better, Desire or Desire S as I'm due an upgrade in 2 weeks time
-
I did a lot of research and went for the desire in the end. It's s great phone and I would recommend it to anyone.
-
