- Good points:
- From the quality of the print to the many easily used features, this machine has given me a greater facility than previous printers I have used. The wireless facility adds another dimention as I can send from anywhere and print on demand.
- Bad points:
- None That I have found so far

Print quality is great, lots of stuff it can do that I've not even began to explore yet.
Set up was mega easy - HP software takes a little while to load up, but once you've done it, it's easy.
The web printing is a great feature - a novel feature and very easy to set up.
Scanning documents via the feeder is easy.
Duplex mode is a great way to save paper & with everything else, very easy to set up.
Great value for money when I bought it - Bad points:
-
Takes a little while to wake up if it has gone to sleep, but that's not a major issue for me.
It is a large unit - make sure you have plenty of room for it.

Packaging is pretty good.
I was unable to find any other good points as I have not been able to use either of the 2 printers I have tried. I have not been able to cover all the rating points for the same reason. - Bad points:

I never managed to complete product set-up. The printer would not acknowledge the presence of 2 of the ink cartridges. I also got the general error code 0x61000f6 a couple of times. The machine refers you to product documentation but there is none covering errors supplied with the printer. The on-line store gave me HP's UK number but I was not able to solve the problem even with extensive HP troubleshooting support. HP provided a replacement but it was a refurbished printer. There was ink on the head and scratches on the screen. I did not accept it.
The on-line store agreed to provide a new replacement. During set-up I had a couple of errors come up, but managed to get by using the troubleshooting routine I had been shown by HP. I then loaded the software from the DVD onto several computers and ran print tests. This all worked ok. I then powered off the last laptop and re-booted only to get a message that there was a printer error. I checked the small screen on the printer and it was 0x61000f6. I tried to get rid of it by powering off, running troubleshooting, but could not. I checked for the error code on HP Support website and couldn't find it. I googled the error code and found an HP page that gave 7 different checks to run to eradicate the problem. I tried them all. No. 7 was to get it serviced!! After an hour researching other printers then called the on-line store. I have asked for a Canon instead.
In total, I have spent 2 1/2 man-days on this. How much is one of your days worth? I will never buy another HP product if I can avoid it. Please draw your own conclusion.

When You press the print button "properities", next to the printer name, than, on the settings page choose (on the left) "photo with white border", and on rigjt side, source: "main tray", and than choose paper size. You can print whatever size You want, just choose rigt settings in the properities page.

I would like to print greetings cards - does the printer print on card?
-
yes if the paper isn't too thick
-
-
does the photosmart print on to cd disc
-
IT SHOULD DO AS IT SAYS PERSONALLY I'VE NOT TRIED IT , YOU NEED TO HAVE THE RIGHT DISCS FOR IT
-
Yes, it does print on discs.
I tried it on the free HP CD-R disc that came with the machine and got a good result.
The free disc supplied is a printable disc with aquaguard smear and water resistant surface.
I didn't buy the machine to print discs, I bought it to use in my home office, however the disc printing could be a useful option.
I'm really happy with my photosmart!

I need to print on both letterhead and plain paper, does this allow to print from two trays?
not sure if I am being dumb but I have never bought a printer myself before.-
no, this printer has one tray only (+photo tray)
-
This printer only has one paper tray and one photo tray.
Easy access to paper tray, so wouldn't take long to swap paper in tray.
-
-
i would like to buy this product but first how easy it is to fax documents and how efficient is it i am not an expert on modern technology so would appreciate something user friendly
-
buy it, its fast and easy
-
-
Does it go through ink like Shakespeare on speed?
-
yes it will use a lot of ink if you copy too many photographs,my best advice is to buy the 364 xl inks for this printer if you use it on a regular basis for printing photo's.Hope this helps
-
-
I would like to buy this printer but I just wanted to know if the printer needs to be connected to the router or just the phone line for the fax.
My router is in a different room and not near where I intended to place the printer.-
If you have a wireless router then it should still work as this printer can also be used wireless.so it should work, but it does need a adsl modem cable connecting to it as well,I use mine with a phone extention plus a adsl filter as the main phone line is in the kitchen and the extention line is in the lounge and my printer is set wireless using the cdrom disc that comes with the printer.I hope this helps.

Hi, could you just confirm that I can print on both sides with this machine? Also, does it only use black ink when printing black and white copies (Canon uses some colour every time you print something, which means the cartridges run out much quicker). Have people found this printer quick when doing lots of copies and cost effective regarding ink? Also, we need to print on thicker card (180mg) quite often. can the machine cope with that? Sorry, lots of questions here!!
-
Hi
Can't tell you about printing both side as I havn't used that yet but it says it can.
The printer can be told to just use the black ink for printing black and white copies.
This machine is fast printing and will print on thicker card.
Hope this helps. -
You can print on both sides, and use 180mg paper
-

Like many other inkjets (i.e Kodak), do the heads become blocked on this if the device is left un-used for extended periods? I ask as it would be a secondary printer to my laser printer and would probably get used once every 6 months or so....
-
Sorry - no idea. It is my primary printer and used mostly every working day.
-
it is my primary printer too but it doesn't seem to mind if left for extended periods
-
-
Hi
Anyone know will this printer copy both side of a document ie duplex.
As it got OCR text recognition, and if i want to print a colour doc can it print in grey scale-
I will copy both sides.
-
It will print a colour doc in gray scale.
-
-
how do you print onto discs as there is nothing in the print menu or place to put cd into on printer
-
I have not yet tried to print on a disc bit will give it a try and get back to you
-
You can't! Generally speaking you can only print something onto a disc with a cd burner drive in a PC and a burner programme.
You may be able to copy to a USB stick, but I have never tried it
