- Good points:
- Very light and small plus also very well built and robust.
- Bad points:
-
Difficult to get used to the different types of picture option and if used on auto unless the camera is completeley still it struglles to pick out which object to focus on plus also sometimes a little slow to focus so if you need to take a picture in a hurry it is likely to be out of focus. That said once yo are used to it th epicture quality is excellent.

Digital Cameras Buyers' GuideManufacturer's Description
12.1 Megapixels
With a 12.1 MP sensor, you can capture every scene in incredible detail print up to A2 size, or crop to achieve the desired composition without losing the detail necessary for larger prints.
4x optical zoom with optical Image Stabilizer
A 4x optical zoom allows for a wide choice of framing options. Canons optical Image Stabilizer keeps images sharp by reducing the effects of camera shake throughout the zoom range.
Great shots without the effort
Smart Auto mode uses intelligent Scene Detection Technology to determine subject brightness, contrast, distance and overall hue. The camera then selects the most appropriate scene mode from a total of 18 to obtain perfect settings for the scene. Easy mode ensures correct camera usage by deactivating all buttons except those used for shooting.
Face Detection Technology
A suite of Face Detection technologies detects up to 35 faces in a shot, adjusting focus, exposure, flash settings and white balance for optimal results with natural-looking skin tones. Face Select & Track allows a single face in a crowd to be selected and tracked as the main subject. FaceSelf-Timer takes a shot when an extra face is detected in the frame making group photos easy.
Motion Detection Technology
Motion Detection Technology uses a range of advanced methods to ascertain movement of both camera and subject, plus the speed at which this motion occurs. The optimum ISO is then automatically set for any situation.
Auto Red-Eye Correction
Face Detection Technology is used to accurately detect and remove the red-eye effect caused by flash photography. This function can be performed automatically by the camera or manually in playback.
DIGIC 4 processing
Canons DIGIC 4 processor drives responsive operation, superb image quality and colour reproduction. Advanced Noise Reduction ensures richly detailed, cleaner images, even at high ISO speeds.
2.5 LCD with OVF
The bright 2.5 LCD allows easy viewing of images and video. Choose between LCD and the optical viewfinder (OVF) to frame shots.
Compact design in 3 colour variations
Compact and portable, the PowerShot A1100 IS is tactile, easy to use, and comes in a choice of three fresh colours: blue, pink or silver
VGA movies
Record smooth, 30fps VGA movie clips at the touch of a button. A special Long Play option uses around half the normal memory card space.
