Good points:
Great little camera and easy to use. I bought this because it had a view finder which most cameras don't seen to have anymore which is useful on sunny days!!
Bad points:
Only down side is that the zoom should be a little better but don't be put off by that.

Good points:
Having had Ixus range models before I had no hesitation in going back to them after making the big mistake of choosing a Sony camera. The quality of pictures when there was slight movement was awful compared to how the Canon Ixus range perform. Don't think twice, any Canon Ixus range will be a great purchase I'm sure. Down to my recommendation three family members also have a camera from the Ixus range and none of them are disappointed with them.
Bad points:
None that I know of!

Very easy to use. Is tiny and fits neatly into your pocket.
Bad points:
The colour when using 'Auto' setting is a little washed out but because there are so many manual options this can be quickly overcome.

Digital Cameras Buyers' Guide

Manufacturer's Description

Uncompromising style and great value are fused in the Digital IXUS 95 IS. Ease of use is assured by Smart Auto mode, which uses Scene Detection to intelligently optimise settings for better pictures.

Classic IXUS design

The Digital IXUS 95 IS has a light, compact design that slips easily into a pocket or purse. It comes in a choice of four colours: silver, grey, blue or pink.*

10 Megapixels

A resolution of 10 Megapixels lets you turn photos into poster-size prints, or creatively crop images without losing the detail necessary for larger prints.

3.0x zoom

A 3.0x optical zoom lens gives you total framing flexibility when composing shots. Canons optical Image Stabilizer works to deliver blur-free results throughout the zoom range.

Scene Detection Technology for effortless ease

Smart Auto mode uses intelligent Scene Detection Technology to identify the scene based on brightness, contrast, distance and overall hue. The camera then selects the most appropriate scene mode – from a choice of 18 – to obtain automatically perfect settings, for effortless point-and-shoot operation.

Anti-blur with Motion Detection Technology

Motion Detection Technology uses a range of advanced methods to ascertain movement of both camera and subject, plus the speed at which this motion occurs. The optimum ISO is then automatically set for any situation.

Face Detection Technology

A suite of Face Detection technologies detects up to 35 faces in a shot, adjusting focus, exposure, flash settings and white balance for optimal results with natural-looking skin tones. Faces can even be detected in profile, at an angle to the camera, or from long distances. FaceSelf-Timer takes a shot when an extra face is detected in the frame making group photos easy.

High speed DIGIC 4 processing

Canons DIGIC 4 processor drives exceptional processing speeds, responsive operation, superb image quality and colour reproduction. Richly detailed, cleaner images, even at high ISO speeds, are the result of advanced Noise Reduction.

2.5 LCD

Frame and review shots with a bright, detailed 2.5 PureColor LCD II, which is protected against light reflections, scratches and dirt. A wide viewing angle lets you easily share images with friends.

i-Contrast

i-Contrast analyses a scene during shooting or playback, then boosts brightness in dark areas without blowing out light areas. This helps uncover previously hidden detail in the shadow areas of an image.

VGA movies

Supplement your still images with fun 30fps VGA movie clips. A Long Play mode lets you store twice as much footage on the cameras memory card.

Here’s a list of the questions other shoppers have asked owners of the Canon Ixus 95 IS

  1. Hi I have just been given one of these cameras of my dad, as he found it ages ago there are no cables etc with it. I have a usb cable that fits, but am wondering is this how you charge the batteries too as I cant seem to find anywhere else that seems to be a charge point.
    jacqui asked on
    1. No. The battery comes out of the camera for charging. I have a seperate charger for the battery that came with the camera. If you don't have this you might want to contact Canon or check on ebay. They plug into the mains.

    2. You maybe able to go to Ebay to find a charger that would charge up your battery. Also, it's sometimes a good idea to buy a spare. That way, you can continue to use your camera whilst the spare is being charged. Again, I would think Ebay or Amazon should sell these.
