      Lynne replied on

  4. is the camera good and what is the internet speed like
    nadine asked on
    1. The camera is alright, sometimes can be a bit grainy or dull but it still takes a good picture. Internet speed can have you waiting a bit to load a page but that could depend on where you live or other things
      Becky replied on

  5. my scroller keeps freezin gonly had it 3 months good but have to be carefull
    judy asked on
    1. Oh, that's not good is it!! I've only had mine since 17th dec, and I'm not on contract, so hope mine lasts a bit longer!! My son kept havin probs with his BB Bold, he's gone over to HTC now :(
      karen replied on

  6. On which network is the BlackBerry BB service free and on which is it an additional service you have to pay extra for?
    Jeet asked on
    1. Hi, well I am on O2 and my son is on Orange and we both get BBM free. I thought that was the idea of it, I thought it was free to send a message on all networks??
      Karen replied on

  7. whats the best theme to use?
    harriet asked on
    1. There are so many you can download, it's all about personal preference
      Becky replied on

  8. does it have internet acsess
    Billy asked on
    1. It has wifi so you can connect to a local wifi spot but to go on the internet you need to have a blackberry data plan with your tarrif
      Becky replied on

    2. I just top up £15 per month with O2 and they do the rest. Same as I did before I had a Blackberry. I think £5 of that goes to Blackberry, but I still have the same free texts/internet that I had before, I still only top up £15 per month.
      Karen replied on

  9. does every blackberry curve 8520 have free BBM !
    megan asked on
    1. You can download BBM onto the phone but you won't be able to use it unless you have a Blackberry data plan. Same goes for all other apps like Facebook, ect
      Becky replied on

  10. Are they good phones? And what not very good about them?
    Jo asked on
    1. Hi I like the phone because it is easy to use, with a great screen, if i had any minus o[points its the other all size of the phone its self. But all in all a good phone .
      john replied on

    2. yes I really like the phone it has great features but buttons are a little small. Glad father Christmas got it for me!
      Nat replied on

  11. do i get free BBM on O2 on pay as you go?x
    Eleanor asked on
    1. If you add the Blackberry bolt on, £5 a month
      Becky replied on

    2. same as tesco mobile, tesco use o2
      Lynne replied on

  12. Hi, im on t-mobile and i want to get a blackberry but im worried im going to pay out for it and realise after a few months that i could of got something better for my money what do you think? shall i just get a blackberry or get a different phone if you say a different phone what phone would you say? Also i have read all the questions&answer's above and im really confused what is a a data plan? do i have to pay out more money for a data plan or can i just use wifi?

    louise asked on
    1. You need to find out if Tmobile do a blackberry data plan and if they do I would say stick with this phone. A data plan is what lets you use the features such as email, blackberry messenger, the applications, etc. I only know about the O2 one as thats what I'm on and its something extra you add on to your tariff for an extra charge.
      Becky replied on

    2. would recommed blackberry cant live without it! data plan essential should check out Tesco mobile on pay as you go, £5 a month for data plan and you get triple credit ie top up £10 and you get £20 free credit.
      Lynne replied on

  13. if you buy a blackberry pay as you go on 02 network. will it work with tesco sim card?
    ellie asked on
    1. Yes they are same network, my blackberry is o2 and I use tesco sim
      Lynne replied on

  14. Do you think this phone is worth the money do you think it's a good phone or would you reccomend some other phone
    Yasmin asked on
    1. I wanted this particular phone so I do think it's worth the money, it's got everything I need on it. You could pick a different model of Blackberry if you wanted
      Becky replied on

  15. I know they are very expensive but are they worth the money you pay for them?. I have my own sim is that ok to put that in there?. Is this one of the best phones you have ever had?. Do you have to pay for bbm on the phone?. Thanks x
    Ellie asked on
    1. Personally I do think it's worth the money because I've got everything I need in one phone. If your sim is the same make as whatever network the phone is or if the phone is unlocked to any network it will be okay. Yes you do have to pay you need a blackberry bolt on to go with your tariff so you can get the extras, mine is only £5 a month with o2
      Becky replied on

    2. Yep, I totally agree with Becky's comment above :)
      Karen replied on

  16. Does the Blackberry 8250 have bbm? And is it free?
    kyra asked on
    1. Mine has and it's free. I cant remember if it was already on there or if I downloaded it.
      Karen replied on

  17. Do you get a USB cable in box?
    Georgia asked on
    1. I didn't buy mine straight from the shop so I had to buy mine seperate but I imagine it would normally
      Becky replied on

    2. Yes mine came with a USB cable in the box. Bought from Tescos on O2.
      Karen replied on

  18. do I need to buy a new sim if I buy the blackberry. I have an o2 number already, can I just insert my old sim into the phone
    Alan asked on
    1. if the phone is network free it will be ok but if its tied to a network then it will have to be unlocked
      jennifer replied on

  19. if you buy a blackberry pay as you go on T-Mobile will it work with 02 sim card,,thanks
    wiola asked on
    1. No it wont you'll need to have an o2 blackberry or an unlocked blackberry that will take any sim card
      Becky replied on

  20. If you're on Pay As You Go do you get free Facebook access and what is the best colour to get?
    Emily asked on
    1. As long as you pay for the blackberry bolt on which is what lets you use facebook, bbm and other apps then you can use them. There is no 'best' colour as it's personal preferece, get whichever colour you prefer
      Becky replied on

  21. Do the Blackberry Curve 8520 keys light up?
    Josh asked on
    1. They do, there are some settings in the screen/keyboard part of the options for you to customise the brightness and how long the backlight stays on for and such
      Becky replied on

  22. which phone do i get if i want a contract blackberry x
    helly asked on
    1. Any blackberry you want, just get it on a contract instead of pay as you go
      Becky replied on

  23. I am wondering if for definite it comes with £10 credit?
    Andrew asked on
    1. I can't say for definite but I work in a shop and when I sell a phone at the checkout I have to ask if the customer wants a top up with their phone.

Even so, there's nothing wrong with buying a voucher seperately
      Becky replied on

    2. Mine didn't come with any credit. I got it from Tesco Direct.
      karen replied on

  24. How do you know which Balckberry comes with free bbm? and also if the blackberry doesn't have bbm, how do you get it
    Lisa asked on
    1. they all have bbm as long as you have blackberry data package - usually £5 per month just ask your mobile provider
      Lynne replied on

  25. My Daughter likes the blackberry is their any other colours with this great offer?
    Nik asked on
    1. I know this also comes in a light purple/lilac colour, but you can also buy cases in various colours and designs
      Becky replied on

  26. Hi im buying a blackberry from here then getting an o2 simplicity sim(PAYG) to put in it. How do i add blackberry bolt on for free internet for an extra £5?
    Chloe asked on
    1. It's on the o2 website, if you sign in and go to my o2 > my tariff and bolt ons > add bolt ons you should be able to find it
      Becky replied on

  27. is the internet free on this phone xx

    Megan asked on
    1. The deal I have at present gives me free internet for 6 months on a payg. However it does pick up your own wifi if you put your password in, so as far as I can see sensible use near your wifi is fine, but as far as I am aware they will charge when you are out.
      Jenny replied on

  28. Is the internet free on this phone r do youu have to pay and is bbm free xxx
    Megan asked on
    1. you will need a data package and blackberry data for bbm, usually no more than £5 per month
      Lynne replied on

  29. is internet free?????
    Megan asked on
    1. Internet is free if you connect to a free wifi service, but to get the internet without wifi you need to pay every month for a blackberry bolt on to use the internet and other features
      Becky replied on

    2. Think it depends on your allowance. I'm payg O2 and pay £15 per month, £5 of that goes to Blackberry, and I get free txts and internet
      karen replied on

  30. Is the internet free on this phone xxxxxxx
    Megan asked on
    1. As far as I am aware no, my deal has 6 months free on a payg, but it picks up the wifi in the house so with sensible use it will be fine, it is a lovely phone
      Jenny replied on

  31. Im thinking of buying it on payasyougo(as i never use monthly) and the prices are pretty good for a blackberry, But i was wondering, how do you get all the apps on there? such as facebook and twitter/ect.
    alice asked on
    1. You can download them from blackberry app world but it does cost money to use them as they require internet.
      Lauren replied on

  32. is it worth getting a blackberry as i have a rio and the screan has smashed 4 times ???????? xx
    sophie asked on
    1. I would say it is worth getting a blackberry, but you probably should take more care with your phones so the screens don't smash
      Becky replied on

  33. can you get sat nav on the blackberry and if so how do you get it
    jake asked on
    1. no u cant get it on the blackberry
      laura replied on

    2. I don't think so
      Jenny replied on

  34. i am with orange network and want to know how i get internet connections, i have read about the bolt thing from all the comments does anyone know how much it will cost i am on a contracr
    jo asked on
    1. its usually no more than £5 per month
      Lynne replied on

  35. What colours Are there???????
    Renee asked on
    1. As far as I know there is black and lilac, but you can buy covers to go on it so any colour you want really
      Becky replied on

    2. I am not sure, mine is black but I bought a very nice bright red cover for it with a film to keep the screen clean. I am 52 and find it very user friendly, it is a lovely phone
      Jenny replied on

  36. i want to black berrys 8520 end of this year dont put it for to much
    talibb asked on

      Jenny replied on

  37. hey im thinking of getting this phone! :) wat is BBM can you get msn and facebook on it?

    Clarice asked on
    1. Bbm is like msn for bberry users and yes you can get both of those but you have to pay per month with a blackberry bolt on
      Becky replied on

  38. hiya what colours do you bb curves in ?Xxx
    chelsea asked on
    1. The ones i remember are black, silver, white, pink/purple and red. But you can buy new cases in various colours anyway.
      Lauren replied on

  39. hey, i recently got a new sim and i always top up £10 to get my unlimited text and £5 goes to my internet wich is for 30 days and its unlimited. i want to get a balckberry soon But im Quite confused about the 'blackberry bolt' does this mean that when i get my phone i will not have to pay that extra £5 to get the unlimited internet for my bbm? Plase help thanks
    Margaret asked on
    1. what you need for the bbm is different to the internet, even if you were paying for the internet you would not be able to use bbm without the bolt on. I think with the bolt on the internet is included but check with whoever you're with

When you get a blackberry buy the bolt on with it, I'm on o2 and when I top up £10 a month I get 300 free texts and £5 goes to pay for my bolt on
      Becky replied on

  40. bbm on bb curve is it free to download then do u pay £5 to use it every month on pay as you go?
    lara-jade asked on
    1. Yeah, thats right but you also get other things like facebook and hotmail with it.
      Lauren replied on

  41. I have a pay as you go t-mobile blackberry curve, my 6 months free internet and bbm ran out, How can I get them back? Also, How do I pay for the bbm each month?
    Holly asked on
    1. ask for bolt on blackberry internet usually no more than £5 per month
      Lynne replied on

  42. i am a young adult i have got a good job, but i find that i can only really use my B.B socialy so any idea's.
    jack asked on
    1. What were you expecting to use it for?
      Becky replied on

    2. I use mine mainly for email as I run a small business, do I assume you have your email set up on it, mine has been a lifeline
      Jenny replied on

  43. Do you get Unlimited texts the next month aswell as 100 free minutes
    Callan asked on
    1. yes i do
      michael replied on

  44. I am on contract with T-mobile. I understand I can pick up wi fi signal here, or elsewhere with pass code. Does it cost more to pick up internet elsewhere?
I do not necessarily want facebook access.
    bobby asked on
    1. As long as you have a set limit of how much internet is included in your contract (e.g. 250mb) it does not matter where you use it.
      Lauren replied on

  45. How do you find out your BBM pin?
    Kacey asked on
    1. When you're on BBM, click on the top section where your name & availability are, this should go to another page & if you scroll down it'll say your pin. (:
      Louise replied on

  46. is a blackberry curve good and dose the blackberry messanger help your phone bill go down a lot?
    shauna asked on
    1. BBM does save you a lot of money on texts and calls but only if the persons/people you want to message also have it. Though I think there my be apps out there you can download where you can message to any messenger.
      Becky replied on

    2. I have a payg and 6 months free internet at present so watch this space. As it picks up the wifi at home I hope it will be ok with careful use
      Jenny replied on

  47. Is it really worth the amount you pay for it?
    Yourmum asked on
    1. spose so
      Robert replied on

    2. yes
      Melanie replied on

  48. Is the Blackberry Curve worth the money? because all my friends have got one. Is BBM for free? And do you have to pay for Facebook?
    Bob asked on
    1. Bbm and facebook are apps that are free to download but you can't use them unless you have a blackberry bolt on with your tariff. I'm on o2 and pay £5 a month and I get all my emails to my phone, fb, apps, everything
      Becky replied on

  49. Hi, I noticed some people mentioned you can't do picture messaging on this phone? Is that right? Or that it costs more again. Do you have to pay for another data package for this?

Also, just wondered how speedy it was to get on the net when out and about, as that is main reason for me thinking of buying. Thanks very much.
    Kay asked on
    1. Well you can access the internet very quickly wherever you are and photo messaging is possible but its best to do it via blackberry messenger as the bluetooth isnt that good.
      Lauren replied on

  50. When you buy the phone itself does it come with headphones and adpater for the lapotop/computer usb lead and charger??
    Simran asked on
    1. Yes it came with all of the above.
      Lauren replied on

  51. I now have a Blackberry Pearl which is getting quite old now, I've been begging my parents for months to get me a Blackberry Curve. They said yes if I do jobs and stuff, so I'm saving up basically. Is it really worth all this?
    Gabby asked on
    1. I think you should buy your own phone and not your parents!
You should do the jobs anyway, not for treats. there are much cheaper phones available anyway.
      Robert replied on

    2. The answer to this is, are you more into texting or email? The reason I bought one is as I run a small business I use it to check and send email, as you know it has a small keyboard (more suitable for girl size hands) It is therefore a more professional phone bit still has all the features you need. I paid £150 for mine as payg on T mobile with free 6 months internet, it retails for £250 on Amazon, hope this helps it is a lovely phone
      Jenny replied on

  52. How do you get a data plan on this phone, so i can start using my BBM straight?
    Sophie asked on
    1. you buy it from your network provider. I added mine using the o2 website
      Becky replied on

  53. Hi,

Thanks for the answer on photo messaging. Can you not just send text picture messages, like with normal phones?

Is Blackberry Messenger only able to be used with others who have Blackberrys? Thanks.
    Kay asked on
    1. You can but to be honest its really slow and is sometimes not compatible with other phones. Blackberry messenger can only be used with other blackberrys but there are other applications that can link you with other phones.

    2. change settings on message page, from mms to sms, the tricky part is getting in touch with the provider e,g t-mobile or orange to update phone to recieve picture messaging, or send pic to yourself to activate it, take time to explore the phone in detail so much to see its surprising

  82. Is this a good phone for texting all the time and using facebook, twitter etc? And whats the bad things about it?
    B asked on
    1. Oh it is great for facebook, I'm not a twitter user, but the app was already installed so it must be closely linked. The bad things about using it for facebook is probably the current app I use at the moment, doesn't allow you to like certain things. But other than that, great for facebook. I'm on it all the time, and get an alert for a new notification, so my poke backs are even quicker now.

Bad things, in your messages inbox you cant delete the facebook notifications. So if someone is snooping on your phone they just need to go there and can see private mails easily. Battery life is pretty annoying too. The keypad too me awhile to get used to since I've never used a qwerty keyboard with a phone before but I am slowly getting there. Any other queries, feel free to ask.

  122. What are the disadvantages of the blackberry Curve
    ilyas asked on
    1. I haven't found any major problems with it yet. One little niggle that I have is that if someone texts you that isn't currently in your phone book, there is no way to 'add contact' from the text message. You have to phone the number to enable you to add it as a contact or remember the number and add it manually. I would think the keys maybe a bit small if you have large fingers. I have heard that the battery life is short if you spend lots of time on the 'net - which I don't so it hasn't been a problem for me. Personally, I really like my phone ;-)
      Kate replied on

    2. Nothing really major to report. The only 'fault' could be that the keys are a bit small if you have large hands like me, I need to be careful. Otherwise its great. the battery life on mine is far superior to my old nokia N8 I only need to charge it every other day. Overall a great bit of kit!
      Roger replied on

    3. Also, I've found that texts, Facebook messages or notifications in general, can become duplicated in the 'Messages' folder, rendering the phone unable to send a message or delete the duplicates.

Just nake sure u coonect ur phone to a wireless router as it speeds up how fast ur bb msgs go through and ur internet! Instead of usin ur phone internet witch is really slow!

    Abi asked on
    1. hi, I am only comparing to my old phone which I only had to charge once every 3 days but my blackberry has to be charged nearly every day but in saying that I do use my blackberry alot more than I do my old phone. as my old phone did not have email or apps. it is not a major problem with the blackberry and would recommend one to whoever was thinking of buying one. hope this helps.

    2. My battery only ever needs charged every other day, and thats with constant use! I won't say that the battery life was "bad" per say, but I wouldn't say it was "amazing" either... But when you weigh everything up about this phone-Thats it's only real "con", and I can def live with that!!! I'd be lost without my Blackberry now-I LOVE it!!! Best phone I've ever had!!!

    Fiona asked on
    1. As far as I know you have to have a blackberry bolt on to get anything blackberry on any network, so while its free to download you still have to pay for the bolt on every month. I think this is on any network but you should check with Orange.

My blackberry came with brick break and other simple games like that but if you go on the app world you can download hundreds of other games like solitaire, hangman and more.

  146. When You Buy The Blackberry Do You Get Free BBM With It?

    Nathan asked on
    1. No usually you have to pay per month about £5, some companies like tmobile give you a choice of extras - BBM is one of their extras. I would say that if your mates are on bbm you need less texts in your package so it kind of pays for itself cos your monthly contract is less. I pay for 4 blackberrys the cheapest contract includes bbm for 15 per month - t mobile

    MACKA asked on
    1. if you buy your phone from orange you will be able to get orange dolphin on the phone unless the phone is open to all networks.

I would think that your free internet would include blackberry messenger but i suggest if you have any doubts ask at the phone shop when you buy your phone...hope this has helped.
      lisa replied on

    2. I totally understand where you are coming from, because I was on orange, and had that same tariff! When I got my Blackberry I got it from T-Mobile, and also signed up with them for a contract (meaning that my Blackberry was 100% free. You HAVE to pay for your Blackberry if you want to stay on “Pay as you go”, and they can be pretty pricey).

I compared all the costs & benefits involved, and having a contract works out WAY cheaper!!! The call costs are a lot lower, and I have so many benefits that make it 100% more worthwhile.

You already know what you get free every month on Dolphin, and how much that costs you-But you’ll need to add on the price of your new phone-Which will be pretty expensive…
On my T-Mobile contract I get-
      *100 free any network minutes
      *Unlimited, any network texts
      *Unlimited internet usage
      *Unlimited Blackberry messenger
      *Free email
      *Free Blackberry
All of that costs me £20 a month, which is very good value for money!!!

If £20 is too much for you, you can go on the £15 a month tariff, and with that you will get-
      *Free Blackberry
      *100 any network minutes
      *100 any network texts
      *Free email & Blackberry Messenger

I hope that might have helped you out a little?? If not, please get back to me & I’ll try my best to answer anymore questions that you may have ;)

    Emily asked on
    1. Hi Emily,
Firstly, if the phone is sim free, then i guess you choose which provider you go with. I'm with orange, they have good pay as you go packages, free internet etc. The Blackberry is incredibly easy to use, and yes BB messenger is free, but you would pay £5.00p for BB internet service, which then gives you access to messenger. App store is bookmarked, but i'm not incredibly impressed with the apps, it's a different operating system, not quite as good as iphone, but i'm not interested in apps. Blackberry is a very nice phone for facebook and tweeting and internet browsing, texting and music, it synchs with your i player.
      Hope this helps,

My advice to you is to get it on contract-That way you won’t have to pay ANYTHING for it! I got my Blackberry free along with my contract from T-Mobile-If you do it that way you won’t have to pay for the Blackberry at all ;)

    1. I'm sorry I don't know the answer to that. I'm with T-Mobile and I get the internet free with my package but I'm on a contract. I don't use BBM but my son does and he pays an extra £5.00 a month to use BBM but then he's a pay as you go customer so I'm guessing it depends on what package Orange offer and what type of customer you are.

  207. BBM is free on what networks ?
and i hurd that blackberrys have alot of faults is that true?
    kierah asked on
    1. BBM is usually included as a compulsory add on with most providers making it included in the contract, on PAYG you usually have to pay around £5 a month for BB services (BBM, email etc). Blackberry's have no more duds and faults than anybody else, ive not had a problem with either of the two ive had over three years. Most iPhone owners will discredit Blackberries it seems.
      MJ replied on

    2. ive never had a problem with mine.

bbm you can use to other blackberry users regardless of what network they are on and you usually pay £5 extra a month for the blackberry services including your personal email address if you wish to add this on

    sam asked on
    1. Best deal is on Virgin pay monthly at £10.21 a month. If You buy on orange or O2 PAYG then you pay for blackberry services at £5 a month - it is taken from your call balance very 30 days. The only company I know that used to give 6 months free internet was T-Mobile - don't know if they still do
      David replied on

    2. Sorry Sam I don't know the answer to that question. My Blackberry came free with my 24month contract with Orange. To be perfectly honest with you it's not a great deal as I can't access e mails and the battery life on this phone is poor. Good luck!

    1. Hi I use my Blackberry curve all day every day, I use it for work and personal use. The BM is very good as you can use it all the time at no extra cost as long as your friends and/or family have a Blackberry. The camera is very good and take clear pictures and can be uploaded straight away to any social network site. I would advice to get a good cover for it to protect it. The apps are also very good, I have even uploaded a few books to read, even though the screen is a bit small.

    Thank you
    Sophia asked on
    1. All the plans we have are contract so not sure about first bit, but bbm is usually extra.
We've had 4 of these phones in the family for over a year now and we're not bored yet - key thing is are your mates on blackberry?
      louise replied on

    2. It is extra but mobile phone companies will usually just include your bbm charge with the cost of the contract, not affecting the price... I got 300 mins, unlimited texts for 20 quid, and they through in unlimited internet and bbm for pretty much no charge... search around and inquire!!

    Heledd asked on
    1. It is!! I know from my own daughter (who is almost 8) how quickly they pick things up, so a 13 year old will def have no issues with it at all ;) Im 29 & it took me a bit to get used to, but I'd never go back to iPhone now-My Blackberry is amazing, and literally does everything!!! The only down side is the battery-It does need charged every night, but im sure that they will address that problem with future models :)

      I hope that's helped, even a little??
      Many thanks & take care,

    2. Hi Heledd, I'd say not as the functions are quite technical although with adult guidance it may be ok. There are different phones with similar features that may be a better starting point. Touchscreen for example. The main feature for me with a blackberry is receiving e mails. Otherwise they are quite a weighty phone. My 16yr old son says he wouldn't have got his head round it or even needed facebook or twitter when he was 13. Hope that helps ps my son says to look at the samsung models.

    1. Blackberry messenger and Internet costs the companies £5 a month, so it would be unlikely unless the amount of minutes and texts is very small. The only company I know for sure that does a deal with everything at that sort of price is Virgin Media.
Don't know if you are aware that most companies (Orange, O2, Vodaphone & T-mobile) offer full blackberry services for £5 a month on Pay as you Go. I have always found O2 the most helpful provider to deal with but their coverage is not as good as Orange or Vodaphone.

    2. Sorry but bbm is free, but the actually blackberry service is not! Depending on what phone company you're with, and how you've been with them, they will usually add an additional 5 quid a month to your contract, however some companies integrate the cost of blackberry enterprise into your monthly plan so you won't even notice a difference in price. Best way to find out, call the companies and ask what deal will suit you best!!

    ivor asked on
    1. It's all according if you are going to use it for work and pleasure, and how much use you'll get out of it anyway.

The features are relatively straightforward and, even though the manual is not brilliant at explaining things, because it is so user friendly you can get the measure of it quite quickly.

The email facility on the 8520 is not brilliant, but it does connect to the internet and it is possible to access your email via that facility.

It is particularly useful if you have other friends or colleagues who have a Blackberry, because with the Blackberry Messenger facility you can text for nothing (as long as it's Blackberry to Blackberry)

I've found mine fit for purpose.
      Nick replied on

    2. The main reason in my opinion for a blackbery is it is more professional for work as the email is really good, I am 53 and found it user friendly

    clare asked on
    1. Sorry but I did not keep mine long enough to find out. I found the keys were too small for me to use without glasses!! My grandaughter has the Blackberry curve and I think she finds the battery will last the day, it all depends how much you use it like anything. It seems all the new type phones struggle with the batteries. Im going to buy a Samsung Galaxy 11, I think the battery is supposed to be good.

    hannah asked on
    1. Depends what network it is - if it's T-mobile there should have been a leaflet in the box with a code to text. Other than that best thing is to visit the local shop of the network. Most PAYG networks now do deals where you pay £5 a month for BB services.
      David replied on

    2. I pass on that one - I'm with Orange and had my existing package transferred to Blackberry. I rang the Orange customer services and it was done there and then. (T-Mobile, I think, are now the same company as Orange)

I bought it for my 12 year old daughter who loves it and is continually on it playing games when she isn't texting. James asked on
    1. Well I'm happy with it tbh, but I'm sure it does more stuff than I do with it! I do like the qwerty, didn't think I would. I do think the bb apps take ages to download tho. Plus side, I spilled tea on it the other week, it was a bit funny for a few days but its fine again. Yep it does freeze sometimes, but only for seconds. On the whole I like it. A lot. Coverage is good, I would maybe try 3 mobile if you use the web a lot, really quick and they tend to have all you can eat data. Hope this was helpful. S

    jodie asked on
    1. right ok lol quite a few questions, if its on contract theres all different type of plans, so it all depends on what plan best suits yourself, have a look online then you can work out which ones the best.
on the plans the internet comes free thats included, and bbm is free too, word of warning though dont use your texing to send photos you will be charged, send photos through bbm its free. wifi should automatically come on the phone as it needs it for the internet, go into Manage Connections and tick WI-FI on. to receive bbm go to Blackberry App World (on your phone) and download. Hope this has cleared a few things up for you. Good luck..

  367. At the Minuet I am With O2 And I Pay £5 per Month for unlimited texts, and im thinking about getting a BlackBerry, would i be able to use this sim in the BlackBerry? and if i add a BB bolt on, would my payment then be £10 per month? and where does the £5 go to? please help
    Kaitlen asked on
    1. Contact o2 and ask about adding blackberry services to your contract. Blackberry bolt is usually and extra 5 quid a month, so you will have all your blackberry services (bbm, email ect.) Plus your unlimited texts and another additions from your existing contract (minutes and whatever) you will probably also require an internet allowance to use your blackberry. Ring o2 and enquire about it. I am with orange and they integrsated the bb costs into my existing contract so I don't even notice the extra cost. They may offert you a new contract with a free phone which I would reccommend as this contract will be set up to maximise your bb experience. Hope this helps

Basically I am a teen and my nan is maybe gonna get me this blackberry for christmas but I have seen some bad reviews and would like to know is it good for a teen and is it easy to use as i have a similar style phone at the moment but it is rubbish!
    Millie asked on
    1. It is a great phone but if you want to Browse the Internet it not so good as it is not a 3G Phone which means it is not very fast loading data.
If as you say you are a Teen then try to go for the 9300 as it has 3G and i assume Browsing the Net is what all Teens want to do.

      Jenny replied on

    2. For me, the blackberry has not been the best online experience, nor has the wifi been particularly successful. To date I have been able to access the internet very briefly on one occasion on a bus travelling through the West Country. I have been unable to access the wifi facility or the GPRS in China or Kenya and that is within the last six months.

    sheffra asked on
    1. Blackberry services are an add on which normally costs £5 a month on pay as you go.
BBM is linked to the pin number of the phone not the SIM, but is registered with the service provider. If you are thinking of just taking out the sim and putting in one from another provider it won't work. The phone will be locked to Tesco and Tesco phones are some of the hardest to unlock.

    1. Hi Matilda, the phone is fast charging, has headphones, charger, battery and SIM card, but mine is on monthly contract so you may not get a SIM card with it if yours isn't. Has all forms of messaging including e-mail, Facebook and Twitter. Very small keyboard though and I find it difficult to use and read - I won't be getting another one but will opt for iPhone instead. Hope this helps. Derek

Yes it does have headphones ,charger, battery and sim card with it and you can get messenger , e-mails, twitter & facebook but you have to set them up, orange is very happy to help you set it up it also has a disc for you to download on your computer so you can update your blackberry the battery is fast charging but doesn't last very long also if your with orange you get charged £5 extra to unlimited broadband it all depends on what plan you have I love the blackberry phone easy to use but the only fault is that the battery is short life mine lasts me about a 2 days at the most . Hope this is helpful to you Linda.

    1. It all depends on what you're looking for in a phone. If the basics of a smarphone is all you're after, ie calling texting, blackberry messenger and internet then this phone is more than handy for that! However, if you're after something a bit more advanced then I suggest the 9360

    1. The BlackBerry 8520 is a very good entry-level smart phone. It is my first smart phone, and I am constantly using it for email, facebook, and even some games. To be honest I chose it because it came free on a t-mobile 12-month plan. That being said, I do not regret it. I am still learning how to use all the bells and whistles on it.

    1. BBM wasn't pre-installed on my device, we phoned customer services who got it all going. I believe that BBM costs something like £5 per month for PAYG and can be included in some contracts. lottie asked on
    1. The 8520 is now one of the older smart phones - it is very slow to load when you first put the battery in, but it wakes up quickly when powered of without battery removal. To get full advantages you need the blackberry bolt on - this is £5 a month on PAYG, taken from you call credit - on pay monthly it will be built into your plan. You do not have to download anything else - the blackberry OS has a browser built in - it is not that quick because this phone is not 3G so you have to use Blackberrys edge technology (although on orange you can use a local wireless hotspot using a feature they call UMA). I would recommend you go for the 9300 instead as it has a much new operating system and is 3G so is better at browsing the internet. They are currently about £150 on PAYG - hope this helps

    2. I had to change my internet package from Orange to Blackberry and, as David says, it's £5/month. I don't really have any problems with it and I guess it could depend on your internet download speeds. Like I said, I don't have any problems with it. It does everything I want to do and came as part of my package.

    1. I'm not sure about data plans, I am on an orange contract and I think its 25 pounds a month. I don't think the battery life is too bad, it is a smart phone after all. If you are on the internet and things like that a lot it will be drained, but I just charge mine at night. Compared to iphone users I know people who have to charge throughout the day as well.

    1. I can't really say about the choice between orange and t-mobile, not really a Blackberry question and I'm on O2 and have no idea if there's a plan on the other networks.

Battery life could be better I guess but I think it depends on the apps you have and such like whatever you have running in the background that can drain it. Personally I only have to plug mine in about once a week maybe.

I've not used doc-to-go or sheet-to-go but have viewed a few things in them. It's OK on that side but a laptop is much preferred.

The battery life is good but as I've recently been using the media player more, it seems to need more charging then other phones, though that in mind it's only once every few days which isn't too bad.

Also choose T-Mobile or Orange as the use the same network now as there Everything Everywhere

  501. How slow would you rate the blackberry out of 100?
    Narges asked on
    1. Hm, interesting question! 85/100 ..it depends however. Sometimes I connect in no time! I would say that the Blackberry is actually very fast, but it depends on the connection and the interference. However I am very pleased with it, great phone with amazing options that I slowly discover as time goes by apart from the camera which is rather disappointing! Hope this helps you.
      Gabriella replied on

    2. at time 95/100 but at peak times it can go down to about 70. i get a great signal at home but when out it can be different. check with the network to see the signal strength before purchase. other than this it is a great phone which uploads pics online quickly and easily.
      Mary replied on

    3. I don't find it slow when we are home the signal is great which is why i changed phone and network as we live in the middle of nowhere. If we are out and about i do find it takes a little longer to load so i'd give it 50/50 depending on location, but i do have to agree with Gabriella about the camera it really lets the phone down but this is the only flaw i have with the phone.

    Lauren asked on
    1. in a nutshell yes its is good. but as you have highlighted, the images are not full size, but you do have the option to zoom in now. the screen size does limit, you availability to see web pages but with the zoom, it does help, although not perfect...the lifespan of the battery is alot better then the older models, but when im using wifi, the battery does seem to deplete faster then i would of thought. but in no way will you be recharging your phone every 2 days. to sum up. if i was using my phone for internet browsing a lot, i would go for an android phone with 5" touch screen, but if it was more for sending/recieving emails, txting and phone calls with a samll amount of internet browsing then i would go the blackberry.

    1. I like it. I don't browse that much on it, when I do I find it a bit slow but thats maybe the area I live in. You can zoom in and it is very easy to use. The battery life is not great, for two hours a day you will probably need to charge it up every 2 to 3 days give or take. I would recommend it cause it suits me great. Hope this helps.

I keep the phone charging in my lorry, so I'm not certain how long it would last without a charge. If you have slim fingers, the keys should be a breeze. It loads up quite quickly for the internet and you can pretty much browse all day everyday for no extra charge. Yes, it does zoom in.

    1. You have to pay a monthly charge of £5 then after that it's free to send messages until it runs out which you will then need to top up and pay the £5 charge again

    2. I think its amazing value for money. I pay £15 a month on my Tesco Tarriff. I find it easy to use, quite quick, and it has everything i need on it. Its very durable too, as its had a bit of a battering from my two young boys! Its quick to charge up and has quite a long battery life.

    Daisy asked on
    1. Hi,

I had loads of problems with the service provider initially as I kept loosing Blackberry services and they just couldn't seem to get them to stay on for more than a month at a time. The bundle is good because I do not use many texts or minutes and I only use the data bundle to check news and football scores, which is good because the internet access is rubbish. I would not renew this package. It is good for e-mail and thats it
      Sean replied on

    2. I think this is a great deal - I use the capped contract for my kids. One uses BBM all the time, the other uses it quite alot and also checks football scores constantly! Having just returned from holiday I even found that they got 10mb a day blackberry access for free which was great. They don't use the minutes much but use the texts and find that they are more than enough. I thought it was the best value around although it was the capped contract feature that really swung it for me. The service has been pretty contant and I can't say I have any complaints.

  582. what is the difference between blackberry email and blackberry messanger?
    isabelle asked on
    1. Hi...the difference between blackberry internet service (the £5 a month bit) and the unlimited internet add on is that the unlimited internet is paying for the actual data that you use...there the blackberry internet service is paying for use of the blackberry specific services...and unfortunately you do have to have both in place to use the blackberry properly!

Without the BIS you will not be able to access email, messenger or the internet browser and without an unlimited web add on you can access them but the amout of data used would cost you a fortune!

It's well worth paying for though, blackberry email delivers all your email the instant you receive them, blackberry messenger offer always on access to instant messaging with all your friend who have blackberry's (you can also instantly transfer files and photos etc) and you also get access to the app world and use of apps like facebook and twitter which are really fast and again all notificationd are pushed straight to the handset so you never miss a beat!

  590. I Was Wondering If They Are Worth It Or If Like Apple You Have To Pay For Lots Of Things Seperatley And If They Are Good Or The 3G Is Better The 3G Looks Niceer But This One Is Really Cheap.! xo
    Pia asked on
    1. Personally I don't use a fraction of the 750 mins I get for the £15 a month and I do use the internet a lot so if purchasing again I would look for a 3g blackberry for the same price but with less inclusive minutes. In addition to much faster internet the 9300 3g comes with apps installed for facebook, twitter and blackberry world but the 8520 did come with a cd rom which I think may have included some apps. The 9300 is slightly better designed and they've ironed out some small quirks that exist on the 8520. It can stream live music off the internet and allows you to open different tabs on internet explorer. However if you want lots of minutes, instant access to your emails and a good camera and video then the 8520 is a great phone.

    Thanks :)

    1. the £10 a month deal unfortunetly is now £15 a month but includes bbm with that. It is a month to month contract with Tesco so you are not tiede in for a long period. depends on your phone which aps you have.
