Kevin,

Score 7.0/10
Good points:
Excellent long range signal - almost full strength after passing through one internal wall and one external wall to the bottom of the garden (25 yards in total). The signal was virtually extinct at this point with my old G Router.
Bad points:
1.Considerably slower than old Belkin G+ Mimo model with wireless transfer of data between two computers in the house (only 8Mb/s compared to 12Mb/s with old G router) - possibly down to a mixed mode of operation with one computer being G and the other N, I don't know.
2. Casing at rear not properly assembled at factory (noticed this after an hour of use and returned item for a refund)

Kevin,

Score 5.0/10
Good points:
The good points were that the signal and the extender would be a great advantage to any who would have two routers.
Bad points:
It isn't clear within the instructions as to how to operate and generally it is a nuisance to set-up.

  8. What sort of range does this router have? I live in a three storey victorian house and need a router that can reach the whole building.
    John asked on
    1. Hello John. The manufacturer claims that the range is up to 365 meters but that would be outside without any obstacles whatsoever in between the router and the computer. The internal range is always a lot less and depends on the thickness of your walls and floors, as well as other objects in the path of the signal, especially if they are metal like fridges, filing cabinets and washing machines. It also depends on the angle the signal passes through the walls (perpendicular is best). Based on my experience with this router I would imagine that it would reach all parts of your house if you placed it as centrally as possible on either the first or second floor. At the remotest parts of your house the signal strength might be a little weaker and therefore data transfer slower. It is always best to purchase from a supplier that allows you to return the item just in case it does not do the job (and be very careful to keep the packing as intact as possible). I hope this helps you. Kevin
      Kevin replied on

    2. Any router should do, only problems I've found with routers is conflictions with neighbours routers. My advice is to place the router so the amount of walls the signal goes through is minimal, sometimes placing it central in the house, away from the television or other things like wireless phone base etc. The 'N' routers seem better than none 'N' routers. The other thing to beware of is the siting of dongles, sometimes using a short cable to move the dongle away from the pc helps. If unsure about suitability, you could always go to argos & if unhappy go for a refund.

  11. Will this be ok to replace arouter that was supplied by sky when i first had broadband and has never worked wirelesly so i have my p c conected by the ethernet cble
    Terry asked on
    1. It will be OK if Sky are using ADSL to deliver your service, as this router only works on an ADSL phone line. You should check with Sky first.
      Kevin replied on

    2. Hi I think this one only works with cable broadband I think you need something like Belkin F5D8636uk4A wireless ADSL router for sky as its a phone line you use hope this helps
      Carol replied on

  12. Hi, I am on talk talk provider will this modem be ok and be compatable. will i have to do any tweaking.
    bob asked on
    1. this one is for cable not phone line connection
      Carol replied on

    2. The one I bought was for ASDL connection. (through a bt line or similar) talk talk lines would be ok. Don't buy one that says it's for 'cable connections'. Get the version for ASDL connections and you'll be fine.
      Mark replied on

  13. Will this router work my google android tablet from my Virgin Broadband connection
    Barrie asked on
    1. It's been a while, but as long as the product description says 'for cable conections' then it will. If the description mentions ASDL at all, then this is for BT lines and won't work with Virgin.
      Mark replied on
