MP3 Players Buying GuideManufacturer's Description
Meet a musical Genius
Say you’re listening to a song you really like and want to hear other tracks that go great with it. With a few clicks, the Genius feature finds the songs in your library that go great together and makes a Genius playlist for you. You can listen to the playlist right away, save it for later or even refresh it and give it another go. Count on Genius to create a mix you wouldn’t have thought of yourself.
Hold everything
iPod classic gives you 160GB of storage capacity, good for up to 40,000 songs, 200 hours of video, 25,000 photos or any combination. And you get up to 36 hours of battery life, so you can keep on rocking for a long, long time.
Leave no tune behind
With 160GB of space, iPod classic means you can always have your entire music and video library with you. Carry it from the living room to a party in the garden. Or take it on a cross-country road trip and never listen to the same song twice.
Click to enjoy
Finding exactly what you want to watch or listen to is easy. Use the Click Wheel to browse by album art with Cover Flow or navigate your songs and videos by playlist, artist, album, genre and more. You can also search for specific titles and artists. Want to mix things up? Click Shuffle Songs for a different experience every time.
Watch films and TV programmes
The vivid 2.5-inch display makes video come alive. Purchase or rent films, buy TV programmes, and download video podcasts from the iTunes Store, then sync them to your iPod classic to watch anywhere, anytime.
Play iPod games
Put hours of fun at your fingertips. iPod classic comes with three games — Vortex, iQuiz and Klondike — and you can purchase games such as Cake Mania from the iTunes Store. All iPod games are designed specifically for the iPod interface.
Share your photos
iPod classic uses iTunes to sync the photos you have in iPhoto on a Mac. You can view photo slideshows complete with music and transitions on iPod classic, or play them on a TV using an optional Apple component or composite AV cable.
Here’s a list of the questions other shoppers have asked owners of the Apple iPod Classic 160GB 6th Generation
-
Does ipod classic come with FM radio?
-
No mine doesnt sorry.
Lou -
No it doesnt, but then with the amount of music it holds I dont think you need it :-)
-
-
is it easy to put music onto it from my cd's / laptop?
-
I have itunes setup on my desktop which I load my Cd;s into and then transfer to my Ipod, I am no computer genius but my daughter had me doing this in no time at all.
-
-
Can you use it with Windows Media Player or is it only itunes?
-
As far as im aware its only itunes
-
I also think you can only use it with itunes. I've tried using it in Nokia's ovi tunes but it won't work so I guess it'll be the same with windows.
-
-
Is it worth the money or are you only paying for the memory?
-
My wife uses it mainly, I bought the biggest so I could store all music and videos. I guess it comes down to how much music and videos you will store. Certainly there is plenty, for work I have an 32Gb iPhone, I have downloaded all my music (no vidoes) and still have plenty of memory left. Generally the Apple iPods are much easier to use than others I have seen and used, the menus are much more natural/intuitive. Hope this helps.
-
Im happy with it - better memory and cheaper than a touch.
Lou
-
-
i this worth the money or am i better getting a ipone
-
It depends what you are looking for! An I-phone cannot hold no way near as much music or videos as this but its a phone! I have both and use them accordingly. The I-phone to buy off line will set you back around £450-500.
-
This is indeed worth the money if you have lots of music or videos, but it does depend on how you will use it.
-
i agree if you want a phone then the i-phone can not hold as many as the classic ipod, i brought the ipod classic because it holds lots more than an i-phone. Hope this is helfpful.
-
-
Would I be able to listen to audio books on a Classic?
-
Hi Ruthie,
According to apples own website you can indeed use the Classic to listen to audiobooks! Hope this helps
-
-
I need a 30 pin extension cable to docking in car please advise where to purchase.
-
Try searching on Google shopping for '30 Pin Dock Extender' - there's plenty to choose from!
-
-
My question is: If I bought a iPod classic can I add song from different country or from popstar in different country?
-
Yes you can, from iTunes or from data on your computer :-)
-
-
Is it worth my while? i have a shuffle and have done for 3 years, but i brought another nano and it was a refurbish and broke. Now looking for another one. I use my shuffle like no ones business. Now i'm looking for A new ipod. Would it be worth it for me??
-
If you have a large music collection it is certainly worth it and you can also download Podcasts for programmes you miss, although you can't always get the ones you want. Hopefully more stuff will be added eventually! Also if you get the adaptor you can use your iPod in the car, if you go abroad you can use it as normal or with the hub and you can play music outloud. You can download from disc on PC, or CD player (if modern enough!). You can also organise your music in different ways ie: genres or collections, but I don't bother I just go by album or artist. Compared with the old tape or CD portables it is very whizzy, I recommend it without reservation. I would get a case to protect it because I take mine everywhere including the beach when on holiday. So yes: go for it!
-
I use mine for about three hours a day (min) mainly walking my dog. I must say I was never a big Apple fan but have to admit my head has been turned. So, in essence, YES go for it.
-
I agree with Debbie, I have over 100gb of music that I like to play through my surround sound system on shuffle, the same with my car and ipod dock on my patio.
-
-
i dont have a lot of music but most people tell me its good so shall i buy it or buy a blackberry curve phone
-
I think the iPod is fantastic, I haven't tried a blackberry curve so I can't compare. My sister has an iPhone and loves it so if you're looking for something that doubles as a phone I'd go for that
-
If you want a phone then get one - the ipod classic is all about music, so not much good as a phone. Get an ipod classic if you want a music player. Simple.
-
Agree with others, if you want a phone get the blackberry. If its for music then the classic is great. The classic will hold about 1500 albums so if you have a small collection why not get a nano, plenty second hand on ebay
-
-
Does it store music in folders & is it easy open the song you need out of many stored.
-
it stores music by album, artist or just in a list of song titles, and if u want the song u need u just type in the name in search and then it will come up with the name. I find it very easy to use.
-
-
hiyaa im buying an ipod classic and i was wondering if i could store 155 hours of video on it or does it only store so much video and how long does a full battery last?
-
not sure bout the amount of video it holds, sorry. Battery does last well tho. hope this helps... I love mine and my hubby is always trying to borrow it for work at night lol
-
hi, battery seems to last ages, I have used it on and off over a weekend no problem. I would assume you can store the full memory of video, when you plug it in to sync it tells you how much memory in each group you have used, i.e music, video etc so dont see why you cannot fill it with videos.
-
this ipod stores approx 200hrs video.plays back approx 6hrs on a charge.hope this helps.
-
-
bit of a silly question but is it of a good size.
eg. for putting in jacket pockets etc while on the move - trains, walking, etc.
is it bulky or heavy?
thanks-
I only use my on na speaker so could'nt say if it is bulky
-
I have a HTC wildfire Mobile phone and it is the Same size but slightly heavier. Ie small smartphone.
-
-
Does it have an Audio Crossfade function?
-
No i dont believe so.
-
Can confirm that it does not have Audio Cross Fade.
-
No don't think it has
-
-
How do I change the language cant find the settings button

-
what's the difference between 6th generation and 2nd generation 160gb ipod classic?
-
When Apple upgrade their products, they call them the next generation. So the first ever iPod Classic will be 1st generation. The lastest one being 6th generation. They work in almost the exact same way except they might look slightly different or sound better or have better picture quality. The main thing to look for on any iPod is the memory. 160gb is the highest with 32000 songs, 4gb can get approx 600 songs, etc. Also, you will only be able to buy the latest generation brand new from a store.
-
-
do you get a charger with this ipod thanks!
-
No, you get a usb lead to plug into ur computer an u can charge it like that. I just bought a usb adapter plug for a few quid and I use that if I want to charge it by plug.
-
Same as what Zoe wrote - it comes with the USB lead for your PC but you can easy but a normal charger that plugs into the power socket for a couple of pounds no problem.
-
Sorry Jake no charger with the ipod. Merry Xmas
-
-
I cannot decide whether to get an iPod classic 160gb or a iPod touch i think i will upgrade my phone to an iPhone 4 early next year & would like the amoount of music & video a classic can hold but feel the new cloud feature on the tough would benifit me with the iphone need help
-
the ipod classic is the best ipod .it does it all.
-
when it comes to storing media, the 160gb Classic is obviously supreme. If you have an iphone, I'm not sure how much extra functionality you'll find from the Touch.
-
-
Does it play in the car through the radio
-
It depends on your car radio, if you have an auxilary input you can purchase a lead that plugs into the ipod earphone socket and into the radio input. If your radio
does not have the required input socket you can purchase devices such as the Belkin TuneFM, this plugs into the bottom of the ipod and enables you to select a a clear frequency on your radio and tune the device to this frequency which enables you to play your ipod through the radio. The only problem with this device is on long journeys where you would need to change fequencies occasionally, otherwise it is quite good and so simple to use even I managed it. regards.

I have seriously outgrown my current mp3 player and need the massive space this offers; however I am worried about trying to transfer many of my files which are wma and drm protected. I have seen many youtube videos explaining how to get round this but they seem complicated and unreliable to me. Is this just something you can't get round because this is my only reservation about purchasing.
-
I think you will have to convert all your files to the Apple standard. When I purchased my partner already had an Apple device so I had a good library of Apple music and did not need to convert any files. Have you looked at iTunes on apple.com I thought you could convert mp3 tracks to the Apple standard? The other thought is to go to www.download.com and search for an MP3 file conversion program. Sorry I cannot be much help.
-
-
do you get the charger sepret
-
It comes with a USB cable that you can connect to your computer with, or you can plug it in to a mains USB adapter. It does not come with a mains adapter but plugging it into the computer is a completely adequate way of charging it.
If you wish to ask me anything else, feel free, although you may want to improve your grammar somewhat.

-
I have a lot of CDs that came out before the ipod. for example my dire straits album money for nothing (an 80s classic i'd like to add) will i be able to put these CDs on my ipod even though they came out before it?
-
Yes, there should be no problem, you will actually import the cd into iTunes on your computer initially which will then transfer the cd onto your ipod once it is connected to your computer.
-
-
Help! my son has just bought this and i can't find the CD drive on my ipod, how can i get my salt n peppa greatest hits on to it if theres no CD drive on my ipod? i don't want to buy it off itunes again!
-
Plug your IPod into a PC or laptop and Itunes will open. If not, open it from the desktop icon. You can then insert the CD in to your PC or laptop and Itunes should detect that a CD has been inserted and ask if you want to copy it over.
Not the greatest of explanations but you can always go to Itunes 'help' page for a more detailed explanation!
-
-
I have Windows XP but may change my pc soon so will then have Windows 7 - does this iPod Classic work with Windows 7?
-

-
-
