Here’s a list of the questions other shoppers have asked owners of the Apple iPad 2 (WiFi, 16GB)
-
how good is it for using bbc iplayer
-
you can watch a good range of tv on the ipad with a clear picture and good sound
-
Works fine.
-
Crystal clear, only streams as fast as your router will permit but..
-
-
Can you use the internet and listen to itunes at the same time?
Cheers-
Yes with the latest OS (4.?)
-
Yes you can, it's a great device. I couldn't imagine doing without it!

-
Hi there, Can anybody help me about the Apple I Pad with Wi-Fi Please?
How do I get my Apple I pad on Pay as you go? Is it p[ossible or do you have to have only the conntract? Thanks-
If u buy an ipad 3g from apple , orbanother retailer, u can thn buy a sim card for ipd from a network and use it as payg. But you cant use ipad wifi only as payg.
-
Might I add you can use the wifi iPad anywhere if you have one of the following:
a phone with data package that is capable of creating a wifi hotspot. Eg htc.
A location with free wifi. Lots of malls and restaurants etc now offering this
Or finally buy a pay as you go mifi dongle from three mobile or vodaphone. Hope this helps
-
-
hi, can you use the ipad for online banking and is it safe to do this? thanks
-
Hi, yes you can,you can do anything that you could do on any browser, except play anything using flash player, legal nonsense.
But I would say be very careful checking you account when out, and also after you have finished ensure you log out, then go to setting and just knock of your e-mail.
Just be caution, who's around and where you do it, would not even consider around big towns or cities, cafes etc,as they are the worst places, check in the car. Away from hackers. Hope this helps.
-
-
if i get 1 on pay as u go how does this work is the internet built in or do i need a dongle or is it the same as a laptop but just smaller?
-
Hi, there are two models of iPad you can buy. The basic one comes with built in wi-fi, this is the one I bought. You can connect to the Internet via wi-fi just as you would with a lap top. The second model comes with wi-fi and 3G, this means you can buy a sim card and connect to the Internet via a mobile phone network. This costs extra. You can find out more here http://store.apple.com/uk/browse/home/shop_ipad/family/ipad?mco=OTY2ODA0NQ
Hope that helps
-
-
I have no home broadband so I need a good package (3G) for net surfing/youtube etc. very few mails (no films, no downloads) what's available to start with ?
Thanks-
Depends on which carrier supplies best signal for your area, vodafone and orange are the best two though.

Can the screen be viewed outside in direct sunlight. I have in mind using the device with aerial photographs downloaded from Google Earth and ordinance survey maps when exploring derelict railways/canals. If the screen is difficult to see outside I would stick to my current method of taking a pile of paper printouts.
-
Hi. All should be ok as its just like having your mobile phone out in direct sunlight, as i have not had my ipad outside. I have had my iphone out in the sun and all wors fine. Hope this helps
-
Hi your ipad will work fine outside in direct sunlight with out to much glare but was long as you don't try to cause a dramatic sun shining against mirror effect . makes sense
-
-
is it better than a laptop?can I watch online TV or listen radio?what happens if I go abroad?can i use it as normal?thanks
-
I find it better than a laptop because of it's touch screen. Not tried to load anything that takes up lots of memory though. you can download tv deries to watch, not sure about live tv. You do have access to the internet though so I assume you can do that, as long as you are in a wi-fi area. Not taken it abroad but again, as long as you are in a wi-fi area, I don't see why it would be any different.
-
-
How compatible is the Ipad with cameras. I use a Nikon D300 and a Panasonic TZ10 but can't find out about downloading photos from them
-
You can purchase a camera accessory from Apple which will allow you to transfere your pics from you camera to the iPad. Check out the online Apple store!
-
i am sorry mike but i havent tried downloading any kind of photgraphic imagery content on to my ipad .
-
-
How effective is it to use as a word processer for producing documents
-
It is effective at producing docs, but it is ideal for amending docs already produced.
-
-
hi could you instal a printer to a i pad does it have a place to put a disc?
-
Hi I have my printer hooked up to my ipad. Altough I have an HP wireless printer, I just downloaded an app from the apps store. There is no place on the Ipad for a disc. You wouldn't be able to actually connect a printer with leads to it. However if you haven't bought the printer yet, you can but a HP photosmart wireless for around £60 I can send you a link if needed. Hope this helps if you are still confused please ask any further questions.
-
-
Does you ipad have a cd drive
-
NO
-
-
Does an Ipad has an HDMI A/V output?
-
no sorry it doesnt
-
Sorry for the delay, I am afraid to say it does not.
-
-
I have a external memory device called Estorr. Would I be able to acess this from my ipad and edit and work on my documents saved in it?
-
if the unit is USB there is no USB port available on the ipad. If the estorr device has an apple proprietory connecter on it you should be able to connect it to the bottom of the ipad and read the data contained on it within documents available from the apps store. please note the easiest way to work on documents on the ipad is to email them to the ipad so there just stored on it. however there is a unit called the hyperdrive available for connecttion to the ipad but they are expensive.
-
There is no direct support for a USB device on the iPad. If you want to share documents and work on them on a variety of devices, the easiest way is to open a Dropbox account. You can store and share up to 2GB absolutely free. Have a look at www.dropbox.com
-
-
re portability, do you need to put one of those clear covers over the face of it (as you normally do with an ipod) or is it 'scratch-proof/handbag proof'.
-
Well i know its pretty good in terms of getting no scratches, but i would always say buy the screen covers just for that extra protection and piece of mind, these can be bought online for under £5 and that gives you two covers. Also i would buy a case for it to go in, that way its well protected in bags ect.
-
-
does ipad have camera enabeling me to video call.....also can i install msn on it
-
no camera dont see why you cant have msn if you in wi-fi area.
-
-
can i connect to messenger and see my family in oz
-
No.....ipad2 has a camera
-
not with the old one its not got a camera ipad2 has a camera
-
-
how does the 3G work? what does it do, and why do you need a sim, what do you pay for??
thanks Lauren-
3G enables you to connect to wireless broadband services when you are not in range of wi-fi. A sim card is needed in order to connect to the mobile network. Some mobile phone companies will send you a free sim card with no contract obligations. You can then use it on a pay as you go basis (I.e. £10 for 30 days from the date of top up, with a limit on the amount you can download). I just use it to download apps and surf the net in which a limit of 1GB is an ample. You don't need 3G if you are mostly within a wi-fi zone.
-
-
is 16gb enough for what i need, which is mainly playing about 100 apps, about 900-100 songs, 2 films, very light email usage, and under 80 photos.
-
Based on what I have read, a DVD stores approximately 4.7 GB of data hence two films would be pushing 10GB, 1000 songs would be 4-5GB and without continuing, 16GB is probably not enough bearing in mind you have in reality 13-14GB available due to the operating system. Applications and photos (depending upon quality) don't take that much room. I would go for the 32GB model.
-
-
hi..my mother likes to play pogo, i think that uses java, will this work on ipad?
-
If you go to the iTunes AppStore then it'll say whether it will or not.
-
-
hi there
on the ipad 2 can you play games on the internet without any downloading eg. adobe flash?-
unfortunately not, apple doesnt allow flash to run on its systems, therefor all games must be downloaded from the app store
-
-
Would I be able to send pictures by Bluetooth from ipad2, as i need to for my work, and i do it on my laptop at moment, and would I need a special dongle to do this.?
Thanks.-
it has bluetooth Built in like the iphone. So its as easy sending a picture using bluetooth on your phone.
-
-
can i send pics by bluetooth by ipad, and do i need a dongle.?
-
Yes it has Bluetooth Built in.The same as the iphone
-
-
my question is, as musician i'd like to use the i real book app (jazz numbers) how much would the app cost,oh and the other app would be jazz styles pack.hope you can help many thanks.
-
I books app is free I have no info on the other app for jazz sorry
-
-
could i send pictures by bluetooth from a ipad2, and do i need a dongle to do this. Thanks
-
it already has bluetooth so you don't need a dongle.
-
-
when i bye it off tesco do i get the cover with it ??
-
No u need 2 buy the cover separately
-
No
-
No. You have to buy the cover separately.
-
-
I'm not sure whether 16gb is enough memory, does it allow you to fully use the iPad? Or are there some restrictions which would be removed with more gigabytes?
-
no 16 gb is fine i have 2500 photos on mine and it has only used 500mb
-
16GB is enough memory if you want to put music and photos on it as these don't generally use much memory. On the other hand movies can require more memory but unless you intend to upload alot of movies then the 16GB is suffice. Note only approx. 14GB is available due to the operating system.
-
-
Does 16GB seem like enough room?
-
Depends on what you want to use it for. You actually get about 12gb. Apps, music and movies and a lot of room
-
-
would you recomend the ipad2
-
Yes would recommend ipad2 good fun and quick 4 star
-
i would recommend it if you want to use it as an alternative for your laptop. As it is lighter. Web surfing is good too. depends on what you need it for.
-
-
would you recomend the ipad 2
??????????-
its a nice gadget and does a lot. if u want to use it as an alternative to your laptop or games go for it.
-
Depends what you want to use it for
-
-
can u make calls with it
-
you can make video calls using facetime
-
-
could you run two different things at a time for example facebook and facetime
-
do you mean run facetime on facebook??
You can run multiple apps at the same time thanks to multitasking but i dont think you use facetime on facebook but you might be able to run facetime and facebook at the same time.
-
-
How limiting is the lack of adobe flash player? Do some web sites just have no content?
-
mainly games that dont play on websites
-
Some shopping websites I use need flash installed. It's a real pain really.
-
-
Is there any way to video call another device that is not an Apple/Ipad?
-
my wife calls me through facetime to my iphone4, you need wi fi connection though. no other way to call anyone unless you get the 3g versions and subscribe to a tarrif.
-
As long as the other device has a webcam and you are both on skype (accounts are free) and on the internet then you can connect.
Hope this helps
-
-
how good is the ipad2 for downloading books and reading quality
-
Hi, I only have the ipad not the new ipad2. Un less you are using it for gameing or require a camera save yourself £100 and buy the old one, if there are any left, thats what I did. The viewing quality is excellent and as with anything from apple downloading is a breeze. I hope this helps. Regards, Gren
-
-
as a 13 yearold i am looking for some thing new as i always am already made an investment in the ipod 4g is this anything like the ipod 4g
-
THIS IS EVEN BETTER
-
Completely different i'm afraid.
The ipod is a more portable product, for things like the gym, mobile games etc.
The iPad (at the moment) is a more business focused device (most of the apps are for work), which may not suit your needs.
Stick with the ipod for the time being until maybe you start doing your GCSE's when the iPad may become a good choice.
-
-
do you need an ipad sim for the wifi version of the ipad
-
the cheaper one doe not have 3g, so does not allow a sim inside
you have to buy the more expensive ipad 3g
The basic ipad has a complete wi-fi, so to get it online outside you would have to contact your mobile phone company and pay a monthly usage fee.
inside the house or near a wi-fi hotspot ( free) it connects free to your router as the same as your P.C Etc, or the hotspots outside, not many of them in rural areas, plenty in cities
hope the above helps
phil -
NO THAT IS ONLY FOR THE 3G VERSION
-
-
As a siver surfer and not too technical - how easy is the ipad to set up?
I have BT internet package with wifi as service provider.
Have you any practical set up tips?-
Hi Helen,
Apple products are extremely easy to set up and connect to a wireless network. As long as your wireless router is broadcasting ( which I think they are set up to do by default) the iPad will ask you if you want to connect. Simply follow the on-screen instructions. If you get stuck, BT will be able to talk you through the process. Hope that helps. Happy surfing!
-
-
Does the iPad come with a normal charger that goes into the wall? :)
-
Yes it comes with a normal plug
-
it does yes but it takes ages to charge. I have bought a special adapter which boosts the charge. The charger that comes with it is the same as the iphone charger.
-
-
Should i buy this instead of a laptop, is it better?
Is it good for social networking?-
Hi, since buying the ipad i've used my laptop only once. Its a great web browser and brilliant for facebook and emails. I dont think you'll regret buying it.
-
That is a difficult question. If your purchase is purely for enterainment, apps, movies, music, occasional browsing, Facebook, Twitter etc then I think the answer is yes. If you are looking to type documents, heavy use of Internet, Flash-based browsing, high-end gaming then no, I would say a laptop is better. The decision, ultimately, rests on whether you can compromise functionality (laptop) with experience (iPad).
-
-
can i make skype calls??
-
I don't use Skype myself, but there is an app. On the original iPad you'll need to add a microphone to the 3.5mm headphone socket. You can't make video calls.
Hope this helps.
-
-
If I purchased this model of 1pad, would I be able to use it to play games such as Farmville and Cityville when I'm away from my home computer? If this is not suitable would you be able to suggest another model? Thank you
-
Hi Wendy
Farmville is certainly available on iTunes for the iPad, but I can't say about Cityville. The iPad is more than just a games machine -
I do not know about cityville.but I do know that I can't play texan Holden poker as apple do not allow you to down load flash player
-
-
On a scale of 1-10 what (honestly) would you rate it?x
-
Really, I would rate it a 10 - it all depends what you want from a computer or tablet, but if you are mainly going to use it for the web, email, reading electronic books, music and video, it really cannot be beaten yet. I teach Computing at a college, and I'm finding that I am doing more and more of my work on it as well! Hope that helps!
-
As above really, tablet or computer/laptop? I find it convenient to use for web browsing when I cannot be bothered to fire up my PC. I use it for watching movies and YouTube and I read the odd ebook. I like the convenience, some of the apps like Sky News cannot be bettered and if you do any of the things I have mentioned then you will love it. But would I have an Ipad instead of a laptop or PC definitely not! Would I have one to complement my existing Tech? - Yes!
-
-
Does the WiFi version of Ipad2 have a built-in GPS?
-
No, it doesn't. Only the 3G version has the GPS
chip.
-
-
which one is better i phone 4 or i pad 2 and if so do they have the same apps and whats the tranalating app the one where they hover over the menu and whats the barcode scanner one called.
-
If it an option of one or the other then for practicality the iPhone 4 is better. It is a phone an browser and the screen is amazing. I have both and and I find the iPad a nice addition to me bedside for reading or casual browsing ( damn flash). If I had to give up one I would surrender the iPad eventhough it is faster . The iPad screen is an irritant but only because I have the iPhone to compare. Have not used barcode app. Translating app google is fun.
-
Depending what you prefer I have both and use the ipad at home more than the iphone but they both do the same apart from make calls unless your on skype or facetime, I had the barcode scanner but at the time it was released it didn't give many options, I have seen the other translation app only on the tv advert but it does look good. Games are better on the ipad due to the large screen but is sharper on the iphone. I think if I had the choice of one it would be the iphone but again if you use it for a lot of web browsing then it's the ipad just because of the screen size.
-
-
can i put music off my laptop on the i tunes on a i pad 2
-
yes just check the songs you want when you connect your ipad 2 then sync it
-
-
can you play the games that are on facebook?
-
Sorry I don't play games on facebook. The downloadable games are ok though
-
Strictly speaking No! because you need a flash player which the ipad doesn't have. However, there is a free app you can download which may work. Steps: 1. Open the App Store 2. Search for iSwifter 3. Download it. That's it.
-
-
hello i would like to know on the ipad 2 it has face time but can u only use it to other people who have got ipads or can u use it to any one who has a phone
-
You can use FaceTime with iPhone 4's and the latest generation iPod touch as well as other iPad 2's (they all talk nicely to each other, you initialise the call either by a phone number or email address), or you can download fring (a video calling app) or Skype and video call people on android and nokia Symbian phones as well!
-
I use mine from my iphone 4 to my ipad
-
-
Should i buy the Ipad 2 Or just buy the ipad
-
it,s fantastic fun and easy to use
-
I think the Ipad 2 is worth getting. It has Facetime and better screen than the original also a bit thinner. Saying that both are pretty good I suppose it comes down to cost in the end. If the ipad 2 is not much more than the original then I would say go for the 2. Hope this helps.
-
-
is the 16GB memory good, how much can you fit on there ?
-
Memory space requirement is personal to the individual. It is sufficient for me at my bedside. I have 200 ish songs about 10 movies and maybe 20 apps at any one time, and abou 20 books.. You don't really want to take video as the camera is not great. But if you intend to you will need more memory.
-
well the ipad actually has 14gb depends on what you use it for
-
-
If I am subscribed to the Times newspaper, does the iPad automatically download the new edition each morning?
-
No. But it does not take more than a min to do so
-
Yes it does
-
-
how long did it take for the ipad 2 (white) to arrive to you
-
As far as I can remember it was about 3 days, quicker than I expected because Apple were quoting around 2 weeks.
-
I got the black one, but it was about three days too.
-
Same here, much quicker than I was expecting so close to the release date
-
-
can i get windows xp on the ipad2
-
NO.
-
-
my sister bought the iPad when we turned it on the apple logo came on; when the screen was touched the i tunes button came on with picture of a usb cable, do you have to link it to a pc to start it up for the first time or should everything be on it already? there were no instructions in the box.
-
You need to connect it to iTunes on your pc for it to download latest software etc.
-
-
Is the ipad in good shape ?
-
It was like new, I couldn't tell it was previously owned.
-
-
What do you get extra on a 1pad2 3g
also can i download say my contacts from my desktop to ipad2
i also have a 500gb external hard drive usb can i connect it up.
Thanks from robbie.-
Hi Robbie,
ipad 2 has cameras front and rear which can be useful, faster & slimmer than ipad1, better picture quality and lighter.
32 gb has bigger memory nothing else.
You will have to load everything into itunes and sync from their.
No usb on ipad
Hope this helps
Frank -
Can't help much about the downloading of contacts or the disc drive - sorry!
The 3G version will let you connect to the internet anywhere. I have the WIFI version which means I can only connect when I'm in a WIFI zone. I didn't really need to be able to use it anywhere other than home and work where there is WIFI. (Or to pay the monthly fee for the 3G)
-
-
You have the option of selecting '2yrs whatever happens warranty' but there is no mention of whether the ipad comes with a warranty. Is there a one year warranty provided by Apple?
-
Hi. Unfortunately, I was that amazed to find somewhere that had a stock of Ipad2s I didn't check any warranty details. Sorry.
-
Yes. All new electronic consumer products sold in the UK are covered by a Statutory one year warranty - including Apple products. All insurance is personal choice - and personally I take a risk on the basis that maybe only 1 in 100 things will go faulty after a year and if it does I will just replace it - much cheaper than taking out insurance on everything!
-
I've got to agree with Ian, the chances of it failing are pretty slim, save the cost of insurance and in 12 months time you will have a few bob towards a new bit of kit.
Oh did I mention, it's an Apple so won't fail. It just works!
-
-
What are the disadvantages in getting a 16GB (as opposed to 32GB+) iPad II.
e.g. Performance, number of applications I could install? Did you get to a point where you thought you should have gone for the 32/64 GB version.
Clearly I'll have less storage.-
No problems thus far - loaded up a load of music, and just loading my 4th film, a few apps and docs, still 7.8GB free. If you want more films then I'd go for a bigger one. I use AVS to rip the films and they take up around 750MB each
-
You can never have too much storage especially with the no. Of apps to try , music, films, I feel that if you intend to use this for business you will be limited with 16gb but will not make much difference to performance initially
-
-
shall i get this or dell insperon duo
-
Apple. So easy to use.
-
This is a very smart ipad and very easy to use and read.....cannot compare it to Dell Insperon as have not used it, but I am more than happy with the Ipad2.
-
The Apple is so simple. I have no experience of the Dell so please ask somebody who has this.
Graham -
Of course iPad 2, other choices are iPad 3, ipad4...
-
-
Can i download and install flash player on Ipad 2
-
Unfortunately not, that is the main downfall of the iPad 2. Apple do offer frequet updates that often get around the flash issue.
-
no ...but i have limited knowledge...... post a question in google & you'll get more authoritative answers
-
there seems to be some mention on forums that apple have been in talks with adobe to produce a native adobe plugin or update that may be included in one of the apple updates to allow the viewing of adobe flash. as of yet there is no way to view flash on the ipad. however we may see one in the near future!!
-
-
can anyone please tell me if you can get garage band on the ipad 2?
-
Yes..You can buy it from Appstore in £2.99. It does not come free with the Ipad
-
Yes you can get the app
-
-
I won an I pad2 in a competition. I can use a computer and I got no further than being able to plug it in and turn it on.Can You guide me from here ? please
-
Lucky boy, winning one. These are great fun to use and extremely useful, I am a photographer and wanted it for practical reasons, ie, an electronic portfolio. I guess it all depends on what you want to use it for, if you just want fun then go to the app store and browse for games etc, there are loads of free apps, my intrest is sport and as such I downloaded tons of sport apps, all for free, the Eurosport one is brilliant.
All your synching and photo/music transfer has to be done via itunes so if you don't have that installed you need to get it now. Just google itunes and you'll find it easy. The times I have got a bit stuck I have just googled my query and came across forums that have resolved my issues.
I hope this has shed some light on it for you Brian.

-
is it worth getting a screen protector for it or leave it just as it is ??
-
I purchased a screen protector and think that it's worth it as you do not want to scratch the screen.
-
I was advised not to bother as you are using your fingers and not a stylus as with my DS.lite which I always have a screen saver.
-
-
Can I connect speakers to the iPad 2 so I can use it as small stereo unit playing the songs I have downloaded on it? Thanks .
-
Yes, via the headphone jack, although the inbuilt speaker on the ipad2 is a lot better than I thought it would be
-
-
Can you download various programs in the normal manner? This appears to be the ultimate mobile system. What are its limitations
-
Limitations are that you cannot just install any software or programs on the device (It not like a laptop that way)
Apps can be downloaded from the app store when required which should fit all needs and requirements.
Also no Adobe Flash on the device which can be a bit frustrating

im going on holiday but im not sure, should i buy an ipad 2 for holiday or leave it
-
Hard to advise you. Mine has not left the house but I can say if you can get wifi access on hols and need to use email or the net an IPad is so easy and light to carry it would be ideal.
Hope this helps - have a great hol. -
I'd say buy!
-
You have asked the right person as I purchased mine to go on holiday and it has been the best decision I made, you have access to games, videos and books on the flight (if you have pre loaded these), you also have access to emails and the web whilst on holiday (via wifi). Any photos you take can be downloaded to view on it.
I certainly wouldn't go on holiday without it now.
-
-
Im thinking of buying one for my boyfriend for his birthday but they are quite pricey! Im considering going for a refurbed one (preferably without him knowing its not brand new. LOL) do you think he will be able to tell the difference?
-
I'm sure you can't tell the difference it's all boxed and shiny like new. Performance is brilliant.
-
-
Hi im going to buy a ipad do u need to be connected to a network if u get 3g
-
Yes I beleive you do
-
I'm not sure how 3g works-mine only works on wi-fi.
-
-
hi im looking to buy one of these but there is a few things i need to know?
can the screen be seen out in the sunlight?
does it have a usb port?
can you get many free games and films on it?
can you put a sd card in it?
hope somebody can help.-
Hi,
Yes the screen can be seen in the sunlight if the brightness is turned up, no it doesn't have a usb port it has an Apple connector whihc you can connect to the usb port of a PC/MAC, Yes you can get many apps for free, no you can't add an SD card to it
Hope this helps -
Hi
a). The screen in sunlight is ok. Remember it's flat so you will get reflections, but you can get matte screen protectors to reduce glare.
b). There are no USB or sd card ports on any apple products. The memory you buy is the memory you get.
Currently you transfer your music, pictures films etc via your iTunes account. Look out for ios5 and iCloud coming in September. This is a virtual server which you can access you iTunes account directly.
C
c). The apple apps store has more apps than any other. A lot of games are free. There are no free films that I know of. Once again the memory you purchase (16,32,64) the storage dictates what you put on it.
No, one tablet, will do everything foe everybody, much like iPhones blackberrys htcs etc. Pick what suits you best. Google some reviews.
Hope this helps

-
I don't play games and don't download any music / videos etc, but would want to contact and share Info and E-Mails with friends.
The ipad2 has no USB slots, Should I get an ipad2 or a laptop.
Also I am about to exchange my Blackberry Bold for An Apple iphone4 16GB
Any adive would be helpful.................Ta-
I would never dream to point you in any direction.....I share data, but by email, fb etc only
Emails not an issue......but if the data requires you to USB.....then you are stuc.
I am an ex laptop user that has a home pc and therefore use horses for courses.....this is the highest quality mobile device that I can compose emails, watch sky sports, movies on the road. I have an android phone with a wifi hotspot and have found that the Internet is faster through my iPad connected to my phone than directly from the phone itself......I also use my iPad as an iPod.....
Sorry I can't be of more help......

-
Hey,
Can i write essays on the ipad 2 as im looking to pick something easy to write with for my uni work ? I'm also wondering if there is some good editing programes on the ipad ?-
our ipad was not bought with that type of useage in mind therefore I could'nt give you a clear answer. I would have thought that a laptop would be a better proposition
-
-
My (soon to be) 6 year old daughter has asked for one of these for her up coming birthday, does anyone have kids that use the ipad 2, if so, Is it quite easy to use and more importantly durable?
-
My children use them all the time and they are very easy for kids to pick up, sometimes they teach me things. Many schools are now using them as well, so durability is not a problem. Hope this all helps?
-
-
What connection points are there on the the ipad2 - so for example when on holiday with no wifi or 3g - we put a device in the side of our laptop that has a sim card in it that gives us access to the internet (hope that makes sense!). Can I do this on the ipad2?
-
As I understand you can only add a Sim card with the 3g version. The cheapest iPad which I have has only one connection point for charging, for connecting to a computer. With this model you have to rely on WiFi. Otherwise the iPad does very well what you would expect and the Apps available are superb.
Hope this helps. -
Unfortunatley the IPAD2 does not have a USB port to allow you to connect a 'data dongle', it does however allow you to connect to an Iphone (not sure if you can connect to others as we have only tried an Iphone), we set up a personal hotspot which then allowed to connect throught the iphone (under general/ network settings)
Hope this helps.
-
-
is it worth the money????
-
I would have to say that depends on the individual's budget! I'm not minted but I bought it knowing that I would use it every day for many reasons, but mainly for it's quick access, whereby my laptop was not used daily. Also the beauty of buying from Tescos is club card points that can be redeemed on such a costly purchase.
-
Yes, this was bought for my wife, who finds it much easier and convinent than a laptop or desktop.
Very easy to use and simple to get on line.Light and exellent battery life
-
-
what is the difference between ipad and ipad 2?
-
I don't know. I haven't had an ipad 1.
But I can tell you that I think the ipad 2 is great.
It is used by me and all the family, even my 3year old granddaughter. -
FaceTime. We use it all the time.
-
Only difference is the 2 is hlfa second faster and it has a camera. Other than that there the same. I'm 64 and think it's great don't know how I managed on my I Pod before.
Hoe this helps -
I second that The Ipad 2 is lighter, Faster and has a Camera for face time and skpe and its real good!!!
-
-
do you think it s worthwhile investing in iPad 2 with 3 g as well, does it give much more flexibility than just having wi fi
-
Hi Mary, just having wifi or wifi and 3G depends on what type of person you are, if you are the person that will use the iPad at home and on the road or at work or anywhere I would recommend that you get the wifi and 3G. If you are not that type of person and like to stay at home with the iPad or in bt hotspots-some cafe's have these or at a friends house it would be best if you had an iPad with just
wifi. Having an ipad2 with wifi and 3G it gives you alot more
flexibility. I have an iPad2 myself with wifi only I get Internet at home at other people's homes and in cafe's-with bt hotspots and it's great but if wanted to get Internet anywhere at anytime I would get an ipad2 with wifi and 3G. I hope that my answer has helped you.
-
Hi Mary, Naomi is correct. I did not get the 3G as I only really use it at home, I do travel a bit for work and you can usually get free wi fi at hotels, restaurants, even McDonalds.
Hope this helps. Lynn

-
do u have to pay for internet
-
My iPad is wifi only, so i use my home wireless for Internet and there is no monthly cost for the iPad. However, it means you can only use it where there is wifi Internet. If you want to use it in the car, on the street etc you will need the 3G iPad, and that does have a monthly Internet cost with it.
-
You need to have broadband.
-
If you already havc internet in your home then ipad wont cost you any extra. If you do not have internet then you will have to arrange to be connected to a provider. If you have an ipad with wireless 3g then you will be able to connect to the internet via A wireless local area network (WLAN). Hope this helps
-
I have the wifi version. So don't have to pay for a seperate internet for the device. I use broadband at home and when on the road pair it with my iPhone 4. which works a treat. I have a tethering bolton with my contract and pairing via bluetooth does drain battery that much.
-
-
The SD card reader - can you transfer both ways as in take stuff off an sd card and put things on an sd card? Mainly photo's really, anything else can be easily emailed.
-
My experience is that it is only one way traffic, in that you can download from the camera, but would have to use your main computer or laptop to take photographs off. Trust this is of use to you.
-
I haven't used that feature myself so I can't help you sorry :)
-
-
Does youtube work on it?
-
Yes, works fine
-
-
what can i pads do that laptops cant
-
Bit like apples and oranges. You have to think of iPads as a new type of device. Super portable, very easy to use but limited in functionality. Great for armchair email, web browsing, games console and ipod all in one. I use ours as controller for Sonos home sound system. Kids use for games and to watch films/videos on journeys (yes, you CAN do that on a laptop in theory but try telling that to my 5 year old who has no issues holding iPad but would a laptop). Not an alternative or a progression (like an ipod was a massive jump on from walkman) but a different device. We have three laptops in the house and one iPad, sometimes they get used for the same tasks, sometimes different ones. Hope that helps.
-
-
is it worth getting you see i have some birthday money left over and all my friends are saying its worth every penny so is it ?????? and my cousin has one and he says that the qulity is amazing and the games are really good on it should i get one
-
Hi Henri, an iPad will be as good as you want it to be. I run everything through mine, multiple email accounts. All my web browsing, my calendars etc sync seamlessly with google. It's a great piece of kit and if you use it to it's potential its great value for money!
-
Hi there we use our iPads all the time and yes the games are excellent I would still say it was worth every penny. In fact we don't use the desktop PC that we have in the house at all these days. Enjoy ic you decide to go for it
-
-
when you get it does it take a while to get used to, and does it get scrached or marked or damaged easily?
-
I did find it a little difficult to get used to it due to lack of "how to use " info and my not being a real expert on computers. Once shown it became much easier.
Second question- answer is "no" -
its easy to use just be careful when using pass words with virtual keyboard i have a screen protector to save on finger prints
-
-
what's the cheapest way of connecting an Ipad2 to broadband if you don't have wifi at home
-
I'm going to be honest and tell you I don't know the answer. Best thing to do is to go into PC World, Comet or Currys. They should be able to help you.
-
-
can you get sky sport on it
-
It works very well; you need to get the SKY app called SKY Go. It allows you to watch Sky Sport, movies and news.
Best regards
-
-
how would u get sky apps also
does it cost u extra-
If you have a normal sky subscription you can watch the same channels on the iPad using skygo app. Only the sky sports, movies and news at the moment. There is no additional charge for this. If you dont have a sky subscription it costs £5 a month I think. You can also get sky news and sky sports news apps, these are free .
-
-
do you set the ipad up and readty to run when it is bought.
-
You set it up using your iTunes account it can be set up in store but you need to link it with your iTunes account to add songs, movies, pictures etc to it.
-
You need access to a pc/laptop connected to the internet and the use itunes to setup an apple account (no charge) and then you can use your Ipad. Itunes becomes your interface with all the available apps a lot that are free.
-
-
can you use the 1pad 2 on a wire internet connection as im looking at getting it for uni and my halls used wired internet not wireless? and would you recommend it for uni?
-
it would be good for uni as irs light and you can download pages. you can only use wireless. you should be able to have a wireless connection at your uni library.
-
Don't know about the wired connection . As to university work I would recommend a traditional computer (pc, Mac, laptop) there are limitations to it's use in streaming an visibility of the inernet due to it's lack of flash. It is great to have as a secondary product. I think you can use a router to create a wifi connection at uni bu not sure.
-
-
How useful is the iPad for education?
-
I'm not sure. I use the iPad mainly for viewing newspapers, surfing the internet and reading board /meeting papers. I envisage it could be useful for viewing text books and course papers on the move.
-
-
can you watch 4od or itv player?
-
yep, works a treat
-
-
I am thinking of purchasing the ipad would i need to install a virus software?
-
No way! it's Apple. It would be wrong for me say that Apple does not have viruses, there was one last year but in all the years I have used Mac i have never had or even known anyone to have one.
Buy it and enjoy. -
I haven't. No one I know has. If you Google the question you find that there is a single free app and Intego have made a version of VirusBarrier for the iPad. It looks like there is no market because there is no need. Been using Macs since 1990, yes the computers have anti virus installed but I have no evidence that it has ever been used.
-
I am not aware of any need for it.
-
-
can i used ipad 2 for internet banking and does ipad2 got windows media player 10 or 11 and internet explorer 7
-
We have used ipad2 for internet banking transactions both in UK & Europe & South America so can answer positively to question 1.
Q.2. I know little about whether systems are interchangeable. iPads use apple operating system not Microsoft.
All my music on my Dell laptop, using Windows, in iTunes is also on my iPad, iPod & Android phone using their own operating systems. -
Yes you can use for banking. No you use Safari instead of explorer.
-
-
is this ipad unlock to all networks n works abroad as well with different sim
-
I have used ipad in europe useing a maxroam sim card purchased from ryanair I hope this is helpful more info at ryanair maxroam website EDward
-
-
how much would you spend on a good ipad? is it worth getting one? would sort of age would be a good age to get one?
-
I spent 399 pounds for the basic 16gb model. I use it for work related stuff. Age wise I would say from ten yrs up. It all depends what you want it for. If you want it for gaming stick to your xbox.! What would it be used for?
-
-
I would like to listen to the 'sportsliveradio' on the sportinglife.com website but cannot due to the blocking of the adobe flash player. Are there any alternatives?
-
No. Steve Jobs hates Flash, so you cannot view Flash on your ipad as it comes from the store. I think there are programs that you can download from the web, but I've never tried it (it will void your warranty).
-
-
has anyone tried using one of these to do presentations using the Apple equivalent of Power Point. Will PP stuff transfer over to Apple. I am looking for somethinng small and light to take around for presentations. What about a compaible projector. Anyone any ideas. Thanks
-
It's probably possible but I think it would be tricky since the only output is through the apple connector. There is probably an ap especially to do this, but I haven't come across it.
-
Hi John,
Unfortuatly I don't deal with presentations, howerver Smiths the bookstore sell a book dealing with all aspects of ipad 2, and I believe they cover presentations.
Hope this helps
Brian -
Have a look here http://www.dvd-ppt-slideshow.com/powerpoint-ipad-converter/powerpoint-to-ipad_2.html

is the internet on 3 pay as you go fast like 3 mobile broadband dongle?
-
thats difficult for me to say i can only use my ipad at home or if there is a free wifi area i have the iphone 3gs but cant use this as a wifi dongle which i find really inconvenient and i refuse to purchase a seperate dongle if you have access to an android phone u can use as a dongle so u dont have to pay for dongle
-
My Internet is on o2 but use wifi in the house so cannot answer your question
-
-
hi, i want to buy an ipad 2 for my boyfriend and unsure of what one to get? 16gb or the 32gb? wifi or 3g or both? he would use it mainly for the internet and for out and about internet confusssed1 help please.
-
I got the basic model as I just use it for Internet . You can get free wifi in loads of places so that's why I didn't get the 3G one. I got the 16gb but if your b.friend has loads of pics, music n fins then you may want the 32.
-
I agree with Joanne's reply. I have a 32gb model as I have lots of pictures and will eventually have lots more apps. I got one for my Dad but as he only wants it for pictures I got him a 16gb - it's absolutely fine.
-
-
can you take pictures with the ipad 2 like a camera, was told you can but not sure and is it run by battery
-
Yes! It is very easy to take a good quality picture. Battery power is used but consumption seems to be low.
-
Yes. You can take pictures. It has two cameras. one at the the front and one at the back of ipad. Yes it runs by battery just like a mobile.
-
Yes you can take pictures and the ipad is run on battery which can last up to 9 hrs on a single charge unless you are watching films which may reduce to about 5 hrs. My advice is just buy one you will not be disappointed!
-
Yes you can and very successfully. Runs on ipad battery
-
-
hi can anyone tell me is there voice soft ware for the ipad for the visual impaired
-
If you put your question into Google it comes up with quite a few options I don't know if it's what you're looking for but worth a try.
Sorry can't be more help
-
-
can you go on internet without having wi-fi or o you need wi-fi?
can you wacht films,?? how can you??
is there books for my daughter that has 12 years old ???
can you make a microsoft word page for work??
would you recomend it for meeeee???
Thankyou very much-
Need wi fi for Internet
Music but not films
Plenty of books for all
Don't know about Microsoft word. There are other office programmed.
Yes I would recommend it, quick and easy to use. -
You definitely need wifi, i have an iphone so don't need the 3G version of the iPad
You can rent/download films through iTunes
You can view Word documents but you'll need the Apple program 'Pages' to create documents (pay extra for)
I use it to browse the web, youtube, email
-
-
is there word on an ipad or can u get it on there somehow?
-
No word unfortunately. You can read word attachments which come in an email, but you can't edit them. Same for excel, etc.
Hope this helps.
-
-
Ok, I use word and excel on my PC, I know I cant use them on the ipad but is there a Apple program that is the same, I need to produce documents to send by email and can the recipient read them if they are on a windows pc ?
-
Brian,
Sorry I am unable to help with your question as I haven't gotten that far into my i-pad yet. Hope someone out there will be able to help -
Hi Brian, I use office as well and there is an app called docs to go and it allows you to create and open these documents, but it does not support native printing only attachments. Regards

I am a pensioner and would like to get an iPad2 to use at home and not interested in using it outside. Do you think this is a sensible buy and I have asked my ISP if I could use this just as I do my computer through my router and they have told me that I cannot use this through my router as the iPad does not have Ethernet.
Could someone explain to me how I would use my iPad2 and what the costs would be through a provider and I would want it to have Wi-Fi as I have a wireless printer.
Many many thanks.-
The ipad2 will work with wifi as it has it built in, re connecting to the web you would obviously require an Internet provider I use Sky and do not have any problems connecting.
-
Hello,
My Ipad2 is mostly used around the house for mail & surfing when I don't want to fire up the desktop. It is so quick & easy to use the Ipad it gets much more use than I imagined - it really is a boon.
If you do not have a wi-fi enabled router you will definitely need to get one to replace your existing kit that connects your PC using Ethernet. I think they're about £20 - £30 from someone like Amazon. No need to change your ISP - or even tell them. You should be aware that if you need technical support for broadband they may quibble if you're not using the router they supplied but I've found they come round if you put a strong, logical case.
If you do need to change the router, I'd go the full hog & get one that supports 300mbps and also get a USB Wi-Fi dongle for the PC (about £15). The Ipad will run very well and the PC will be faster than over 100mbps Ethernet.
At the moment you'll need to connect the Ipad to the PC occasionally for backup & update purposes - via a USB cable that comes with the Apple.
Hope this helps.
-
-
I don't have a computer at moment as just returned mine as it was faulty but want to get iPad 2 instead. Is this okay and will it connect to my HP wireless printer okay. I have the wireless router.
-
Hi, you'll need to have a computer to connect this to as it requires iTunes for configuration and transfer of files etc.
I haven't connected mine to a printer so do not know if a wireless printer will work.
Regards
-
I have never tried, but believe it is possible. Have a look on a the blogs for instructions.
-
-
Is it possible to use the iPad2 in conjunction with my 3G Blackberry?
Does iPad2 have any bluetooth potential?-
Hi, it does have bluetooth capacity which is located in settings as on an iphone. Unfortunately, I don't have a Blackberry so can't answer that part. I didn't want contract costs of 3G on my ipad as I have it on my iphone. An iphone does pretty much what an ipad does but with a smaller screen but you can't make calls on the ipad even with 3G, so an iphone may be your best bet. Depends what you plan to use it for. Hope this helps a little.
-
I do not possess a Blackberry either. I do have an iphone and knew when I bought it that the ipad did not have a phone feature. There are many apps which are common to both iphone and ipad. Are you wondering about apps that might work on ipad and Blackberry? I am shortly off for an overseas trip and I can't wait to travel with the ipad- I have downloaded apps and programmes in readiness.
-
-
i was saving up for a laptop but someone suggested i get a ipad 2 , i have done some more research on the ipad 2 and I really have my heart set on it but the only problem is i do all my homework on my laptop will i be able to do something to do the homework on the ipad and then transfer it to word to print it off, or is there something you can do to use powerpoint and transfer it again?
Please help me.-
Your main problem would be Apple is not very good working with Microsoft, so you may not get powerpoint to work as well. I have to say if I could only have one, I would go for the laptop as you can do more because the laptop is a computer and has drivers built in the iPad2 does not.
-
-
What other apps allow you to use webcam i know skype does but what about window lives messenger (MSN) and just for standard surfing does it matter if it don't have flash.
-
I had a look and there are 7 Apps to chose from some are free some you have to pay for. On Apples web site they also tell you about this and theres a demo for you to look at.
-
i would download or buy the apps magazine as it tells you straight what works - i just use skype
-
-
If there are no USB ports, how do you download from a camera or is there an SD card port?
-
I have answered this already. If it wasn't for you here it is again. There is no port for a memory card/stick. But each photo can be wifi fed to another device such as a printer. Or you can email it to your computer at home/work and save as required. Hope that helped. Oh and try the SUN newspaper APP, free for 30 days. Flick through the comic every day, great fun.
-
You can store your photographs on the device. You can email them immediately and an option to email is there to touch. You can also send to a wifi connected device such as a printer. Hope that helped.
-
-
Is it great value for money, because it seems like a LOT of money.
-
It's great for the way I use it........web email papers......it fun......and it doesnt seem to get slower......I also use sky go on it so I never miss a live football match or am never without a good movie to watch when I am away on business in the uk......I do have a wifi dongle from three which really helps.......always connected.......
-
I thought it was very expensive and it was a purchase for my daughters birthday. I was shocked at the price and there is nowhere cheaper i could find. the item is much better than i expected as i was comparing it to the ipod, but saying that it is still a lot of money. I can say we have had some fun with the photo booth and she has loved it and still does. If you love the whole thing about ipod then the ipad is much better. hope this helps
-
-
I want to buy an ipad for my daughters 16th birthday. Do I require anything other than the ipad for it to work. Someone has told me i will need a dongle and to subscribe to one of the mobile phone networks for a monthly fee. Is this correct?
-
You don't need a dongle for the iPad. If you get the iPad without 3G (WiFi only), you can go on the internet via your wireless router. If you want her to go on the web wherever she is, you will need an iPad with 3G. This is where the iPad uses the mobile phone network and you will have to subscribe to a provider. Mine is WiFi only and as long as I'm at home or somewhere with WiFi, I can use the internet.
-
-
I have an iphone and I am thinking of buying a ipad for my husband for Chrismas. How will this work if we both use the same computer for itunes? Obviously don't want to sync my music/pics/apps etc to his ipad!
-
To keep things seperate, you should set up 2 user profiles on your computer - one for each of you. Your husband can then make an iTunes account of his own so you don't sync each other's stuff.
-
-
what would you rate the camra
-
The camera is okay. It will never replace a good quality stand alone digital camera but for fun activities when using the ipad such as sending a postcard, it's more than adequate. I understand the new ipad due out soon will have a higher resolution camera, but for me this wasn't a must-have when I bought my ipad, I bought it for the conveniece of emails and web browsing on the move, and it's more than met my expectations. Hope this helps.
-
-
i am new to the ipad's but thinking of getting one, everyone talks about facetime, im not sure what this si, could someone fill me in?
My main reason for buying an ipad is to talk to my boyfriend whos abroad most of the time, is msn messenger avaliable on the ipad? thats is how we usually communicate?
-
I only use Skype and find that works well from my iPad.
-
-
i cant decide if i want an ipad or ipad 2 not really fussed about the camera
what is internet browsing like in terms of speed and can you have ios 5 ?-
Yes you can have ios5 and browsing speed is very good, if your not fussed on camera don't buy a 2
-
speed is very good for browsing if your not fussed on camera dont buy a 2
-
-
does this ipad 2 come witha cover.
-
No - it doesn't. You need to buy one separately, however there are many available on Amazon that would do the job and are cheaper than apple's version.
-
As Kimberley said you have to buy seperately - I got a nice leather one through e-bay at about a quarter of the cost of branded item.
-
-
would my son be able to do homework on it, some it have something like microsoft word on it
-
I would say to go for a Advent Vega tablet (or similar for about £180), which has Adobe Flash Player and more accessible programmes for your son to use in respect to his homework
-
Look at citrix receiver for I pad, check it out on you tube so that you have a feel for it. You can get apps for Word etc , but probably , depending on his age and what type of homework he is doing, he might be better with a laptop
-
-
Can you connect your iPad2 (WiFi) to the internet through your iPhone3?
-
My husband has an iphone4 and he does connected using the wifihotpot settings on the phone.
-
-
Can it be used to play frisbee?
-
No idea. Search the apps.
-
-
How many years can it last?
-
Ask me in a few years.
-
-
my name is chris bonner can yoy tall me the differnts is aout the ipad 2 16gb and the samsung tab the test about the samsung galx tab and do you get free heardphone
-
Hello Chris, I'm afraid I can't compare the two but I can say that the ipad2 is brilliant, the only problem I've had is transporting photos direct from a USB mobile card reader, so have had to revert back to the lap top. But it's brilliant for everything else, primarily for easy quick access to the net! And no there were no free headphones :-(
-
-
can i watch and download movies on the i-pad 2?
-
Only in the correct format
-
-
is this a rubbish i pad
-
No, it is great
-
I agree, it's a great product
-
fantastic product! use it most days
-
-
whats the difference between ipad2 and ipad2 3g
-
The 3G is more expensive as it gives u wi-fi access anywhere (within reason) whereas the basic ipad2 relies on broadband or wi-fi provided by a cafe or hotel etc. You usually pay a monthly amount to the 3G provider.
-
-
Is lack of 3G an issue given availability of Wifi hotspots?
-
I don't have a problem with the lack of 3G as having the iPhone 4S, i can pair it with my phone and share the internet connection. I have tethering included in my contract.
-
-
I have the ipad 1 when i use the app for skygo i can watch sports and some movies on it but when i connect it to my tv using a av cable which i bought separarte all i get is sound and the logo for skygo does the new ipad 2 do the same or is it a copywrite protection??
-
I beleive Sky have to enable TV-out on the app for it to be able to output video to the TV as well. The iPad 2 however supports mirroring, which is a slight work around as you are able to mirror everything on the iPad to the screen.

Im not sure as I've never used that app, there is an iPad discussion forum app that has a lot of clued up people on it who can answer any questions like this. I recommend you give that a try as it's helped me out on a number of occasions.
-
-
Would you recommend the ipad2 or the samsung galaxy 10.1 and what would be the reason for your choice
-
Have no experience of the Samsung, so couldn't possibly say!
-
-
Hello, firstly is this a lot better then say the Samsung Galaxy Tab?? And secoundly is there a sims 3 app avaliable for the iPad 2, and if there is how much does it cost?? thanku!
-
Hi firstly I think the iPad is better than the tab as it's bigger and easier to use, when you use the keyboard to type there is no problems as it's a good size and easy to use.
The Sims 3 app is £2:99 there are others like ambitions at £1:99 also a few bolt ons at cheaper prices.
They only thing that I think is a pain is that it dosnt support flash so some videos don't play but not a big enough problem to say go for the tab ther are ways around it once you get one.
Hope this helps
-
-
is this better than the Asus transformer ? honestly
thanks-
I don't know what the Asus transformer is. I do know that My iPad 2 is still living up to all the hype as far as I am concerned I just love it.

Is the ipad 2 compatable with word document and excel, as I need to work with spreadsheets at times.
-
There are a number of apps that can read Word and Excel documents, including Pages for iPad and Numbers for iPad, both from Apple, and some that can read and write Word and Excel formats, Documents To Go being one commonly
-
-
Will I get one with new mode ios5 and icould or the old ios4 if I buy it now?
-
It should be with ios5
-
-
Hi.
Ive just bought one of these for my mum to use. She hasnt any internet at home as a lap top would be too much to comprehend. Will this work still with the internal WiFi?-
Yes
-
Yes it will work. We have wifi at home and our daughter can connect to the internet.
-
-
hi i want an ipad for Christmas do you think i should get one? do you have to pay for apps?? and is apple word as good as Microsoft?? and can you set it up to your printer?? hope you can help !
-
If you are a techi then probably good for you. I don't like it. Some apps are free - some work and some don't. Don't think you can set it up on printer. Tried to take it back after two weeks - but Tesco refused to refund me.
-
Hi, They are a nice looking tool and very easy to use (in my view) over other tablets. Some apps are free and some you pay for. There are word processing tools such as document which includes spreadsheets aswell. You can print documents via the network or bluetooth.
It is really is your call if you should purchase one though. I think they are great but the price tag for an entry level will still set you back £400.
I hope that answers your question.

hi,
im debating what tablet to buy for christmas and the ipad 2 is screaming out as the best. a few questions to help me make my mind up.
1) is it easy to write up an essay or make a powerpoint? would it be practical for college work etc?
2)if there is a way to create word docs on the ipad would it be easy to save it and then later on put it onto a laptop to print?
3)do you have any info on this 'i-cloud'? would it allow me to save somthing via ipad and then have access to it on a laptop (not an apple one)
hope you can help-
I'm sorry, I can't really help, I don't have any sort of office application on my iPad. I mainly use it for e-mails and browsing the Internet.
-
i don't think you can use powerpoint etc because there is now where to put it on best besrt way to find out is e-mail or pop in to pc wolrd
-
I shelved my Ipad2 months ago. Its crap, and not internet friendly at all. Complete and utter waste of my money.
-
-
If I buy an iPad, will I be able to download a word application to do my College work? For example: Microsoft Word.
-
My das has an ipad, and uses an application called, errrmm (cant quite remember), ezoffice or something, its on the appstore for about £12.99. Allows editing of MS Office Word/Excel/Powerpoint Hope this helps!

Is a 16gb enough memory for social networks, games apps and all my music and can you put in a memory card? Thankss
-
16g is plenty of memory for my use. I use Facebook regularly and a few games via Facebook like bejewelled blitz. You cannot use a memory card and all input is done via my computer ( photos and music) and through the apps. Hope that helps.
-
-
I dont know whether to get the new ipad 2 but i dont have wifi at home i use a dongle for my computer, would it be worth me getting one.
-
If you have Broadband at home you could change it to a wifi router for under £30.00 and away you go. If not it's still great for storing and looking at your photos, music etc., but you'd need to go to a wifi hotspot to download books, apps etc. I took my iPad on holiday to Corfu and used it all the time to get the weather and even listen to Chris Evans' Breakfast Show! You can still do quite a lot by plugging it's USB cable into your dongled computer and getting stuff that way.
Otherwise you'll have to go for the 3G model but that's a fair bit more money.

-
if you download an app can I sync it to two apple devices because I'm getting the ipad 2 for christmas and wonderind if I can sync all my applications to my ipad
-
sync your apps to your computer in iTunes so you can then add whatever apps you have to whichever device you want (ipad, iphone).
Hope this helps
-
-
what do you all get with an ipad2
-
Just the iPad and the USB lead and plug in charger
-
In the box you get the iPad, USB lead and charger and very basic instructions but it really does work straight from the box. There are about fifteen basic Apps built in and quite a lot of free ones. I think it is worth buying the cover.
I found I had to spend quite a bit on updating my mac - I had to buy Lion and update iPhoto and Pages.
-
-
I am getting an Ipad 2 from Argos and there is a one year guarantee with it, do you think it would be worth getting the 3 year one which costs £69.00 and is there anything else which you would recommend to get with it?
-
I didn't get an extra guarantee and mine is still going strong after a year. It depends whether you want to take the risk or not. I think generally these things should last longer than a year and in 3 years you will probably want to update it as they will have brought out a more up to date model. The only accessory I think you will need is a case. Hope this helps.
-
Agree with Pamela. Case and screen protector? Amazon, - dont bother with genuine Apple ones!
-
-
Am getting my daughter the ipad2 & was hoping if someone could tell me how the E Book Reader works???? Do you download books for free, do you pay for them??????
-
You pay for them just like mags or newspapers on "Newsstand"
-
Hi
Some books are free but most popular books you have to pay for . They are reasonably priced . -
You can add free PDF files, and there are free e-reader books available, but using the apple bookstore you quite often have to pay - all depends on the book!
-
-
can you send pictures from a blackberry to an apple ipad 2
-
Yes you can. I use applications like drop box or evernote to share notes , pictures etc., across blackberry , pc and ipad
-
-
can you call people
-
only by e.mail
-
Hi, there is the face time capability on the ipad so if friens or family have an apple product i.e iphone, ipod touch you can speak to them via face time.
-
-
Hi There
I am thinking of buying my daughter ipad 2 for christmas at the moment she has a netbook with all the things she uses facebook, firstly would she have to charge the ipad from her netbook or do they supply a charger with it, and also i have wifi in the house is it easy to connect the ipad 2 the internet connection we already use and lastly do you recommend a docking station and if so would this charge the ipad 2 also thanks in advance j x-
Hi Jean, there are 3 Yes answers: iPad comes with its own charger; it is really easy to connect it to wifi; a docking station is useful, I don't have one at present and I don't feel the need for one; however if you decide to go for docking station please check whether the charger is included.
Regards, Dan

hi,witch one is better a laptop or the apple ipad2 ?
-
oh gawd...i have both! i use my ipad for reading the news, ebooks, getting up to date info on restaurants, maps etc and checking emails when I am away and not with my laptop. I need my laptop for writing longer "business" emails for the key pad on the ipad is a bit too dinky for my fingers and if I am writing a report or story I use my desktop. The ipad has great ease of use on trains, planes etc and fits into my coat pocket but the deciding issue is the keyboard in my opinion. How much do you need to write? Reading books and newspapers is possibly better on ipad than laptop cos of great definition ( I download my photos from my digital camera to review what I have taken) but writing more than short memos, surfing comprehensively on the net is better on laptop. Hope this helps. D
-
-
What is the difference between Ipad and Ipod???
-
iPod plays music iPad is a tablet type computer.
-
-
do you get a charger with it cos i know that with the ipod touch you dont so i am just checking
-
Hi Nick,
Yes you get a charger with the iPad 2 but No earphones. I hope this helps.
-
-
i would like to get an ipad2 but i wa wondering if it is worth the money?
thanks :)-
It really depends on what you want to use it for. It's great for surfing the Internet and shopping, emailing etc but if you are wanting to do office work, I would recommend a laptop. It's good for games also but some of the apps are expensive. Having said all that I use my iPad 2 all the time but not to it's full potential.
-
-
Do you have to purchase a separate keyboard for the IPad 2? I read somewhere that it's an extra which you have to buy
-
I did purchase a keyboard but have never used it, the on screen keyboard on IPad is so easy to use.
-
You dont need an additional keyboard. The ios5 inbuilt touchscreen keyboard is good.
-
-
How long does it take to re charge the battery
-
I'm not sure - it seems to take a while - 3 hours?
-
-
Can you print off on a ipad 2?
-
Hi Emily, yes indeed you can. It will connect to any printer that is on your network, either a printer connected to your main computer (as mine is) or direct to a wireless printer.
Remember, you will not be connecting by a cable but by wifi.
Hope this helps.
-
-
Somewhere on here I read that you need a sim card to operate the IPad2. Is that correct, and if so, how much would it cost?
-
It depends on which version you buy - the WI-Fi only version requires a wireless broadband connection. The more expensive version additionally has a sim facility which requires either a PAYG or Contract data package. You can of course use Wi-Fi on this version too. Hope this helps!
-
-
do i have to have it ona contract or can i just do pay as you go do i get anything less from pay as you go ?
-
it's not aphone...you dont need a contract...but you can pick up free wifi wherever its available, home if you've got it, then McDonalds and any other cafes that offer it free..no need to pay.

I have a Samsung Galaxy Smartphone on which I have gmail and my blue yonder email address, but I am unable to set up email from a third email address (private domain POP3). I want a Tablet, but am not sure whether the iPad2 will host POP3 or indeed if the Samsung Galaxy Tab will allow this either, it would be so useful to get all my emails while I am away.
-
Not sure about the galaxy tablet but the iPad does accomodate all domains as far as I'm aware. Probably best to ask Apple customer services to be sure
-
-
Can you watch videos on sites like, BBC Iplayer, channel 4OD, megavideo ... ?
-
Have downloaded iPlayer app and use that loads. Not done others, but of there's an app there's a way!
-
Yes. Exact same as if it was your PC.
I would highly recommend you look up your local Apple store, as they run workshops for teaching you all you need to know and they are Free.

Our daughter is about to take up employment on a cruise liner. We are thinking about getting her an ipad2 in an effort to keep in touch particularly via face time. Will she be able to with the standard WiFi or will she require the 3G version? Are you aware of any other possible problems using it on a ship?
-
Hi There,
I use Skype normally rather than facetime as those that I keep in touch with don't have apple products. I use normal wifi to do this and it works perfectly. I only have the wifi iPad 2 not the 3G model. I should imagine it works exactly the same. I have been very happy with how it all works and the great connection. So long as the ship has good wifi signal on board, I can't imagine she would encounter any problems. She would need to ensure that she is where the signal is strong to get good connection.
Hope that answers all your concerns. -
Facetime only works through wifi - not 3G so, if there is no other reason for 3G no need to buy more expensive version. We are perfectly happy with wi-fi only & use facetime almost every day (ipad to iphone).
-
No probs as long as there is wifi. My brother in law worked as a network technician on a cruse liner and informed me there is no problem as long as there is sufficient wifi signal in the area she will want to use it in, ie: crew quaters !
-
As long as the cruise liner has wifi through out, which is pretty much standard nowadays, there is no point getting the 3G model. It's an extra cost with out the benefits. You can access FaceTime, Skype and other video apps all through the wifi.

I am a bit of a novice when it comes to I.T. I have an i phone, laptop and e-reader. I would like to buy an i-pad but i need somebody to 'sell' it to me so i can be clear what i might actually gain by buying one. i have access to wi-fi. Can anyone give me a few recommendations and tips.
thanks
-
You seem to be pretty up there with your bits and pieces. Its basically a large iPhone. I have an iMac, macbook, iPad and iPhone. I can honestly say I use them all. The iPad is fantastic for on the go surfing. Its lightweight and is so easy to use. The Apps are fab on it, my favourite is Sky go, you can watch movies, sports etc. I also watch the inlayer, channel 4 and itv player on it. Have a think about your pros and cons. For me its an absolute must.
-
And in addition to Kelly's comments...the iPAD is always on so you can access all your applications within seconds. It's very easy to use in a business context and there are lots of applications such as dropbox that allow you to easily move files between iPAD and computers.
-
I think if u have an iPhone u pretty much know what ur getting, however I find the pad an advantage because of the larger scale. My laptop has pretty much become redundant since I purchased my iPad simple because of the sheer ease of use, portability and convenience of it. There's not much it can't do really, and surfing the web is as easy as 1 2 3. The only ever downside I find is that it doesnt have flash... However it's not often I need flash! I generally use the iPad for; surfing the web, writing essays for uni, browsing photos and showing others holiday snaps etc., socialising via Facebook, listening to music, reading books, watching tv ( u can get 'on demand' apps for pretty much every main uk tv channel as well as a great up called 'film on plus' which has pretty much every free view channel and more. To be honest the list goes on! I actually can't remember what I did before I had one ! Hope this s helpful :)

-
My wife wants an i pad for books does the i pad read them for you, because her eyes are not very good. Thank
-
The ipad screen is backlit and the glass gets finger smudges which make reading books for long periods uncomfortable. If all you want is to read books you will be much happier with an e-reader like the Amazon kindle which has a completely different display, which is just like a book. Both will enable you to enlarge the text as much as you need.
-
Change the letters format in big or small,,landscape or portrait, white font ,sepia or night (black) font. Very easy to read
-
As far as I am aware the book section does not read them for you.
However, you can double the size of the font by pinching your fingers together, or, sometimes on thebottom right hand side there is a figure X2, which should double the font size.
Hope this helps
Brian

If you've bought apps for your iPhone, do you have to buy them again to use on an iPad?
-
If you have I Cloud you can sync to all your registered devices.

hi there
i would like to buy the ipad2 for my boyfriend, i ve read somehere that on the one i want to buy they dont sell any sim and data package, is it important to have them? i d like the 16gb wifi only, thank you
-
Hi, it depends on what you are likely to use it for but I use it for the Internet mainly and the games that myself and the better half play and the music. I find that 16 is quite ample for our needs. If you need any more info, just ask. Hope I,be helped.
-
Hi, you only need a sim package if you buy the 3G version, and you only need that if you want to use it away from home or the office where you will have wifi. 16gb is loads of storage!
-
-
Can it take HD pictures and send them to an iPod touch?
-
I'm not much of a picture taker. So I don't know about the pixel count on the iPad. I do though use a lot of Apple kit. The kids and I take various pictures and typically upload them to our iTunes accounts. More and more though we just stick pictures on Facebook. We don't have any iPod touches. I've got an iPhone and small iPod nano (the little square one). I swap pictures around easily on all of my stuff, including the Nano.
But you can't directly get a picture from an iPad to an iPod. You take the picture then e-mail it, facebook it, stick it in the cloud, or put it on your iTunes. Then you or anyone you want, can access it, or download it, as long as they can conect to the web, whick I assume the iPod touch can do.
-
-
how could i get music on the ipad
-
You download music from your I tunes account
-
you can buy i tunes vouchers at the supermarket
-
-
hi therei am having trouble conecting my iPad with my wireless printer [its working ok] when i try to print nothing happens have [have bt home hub broadband]
-
You will need an air printer apparently. Don't ask me what one of those is, but we have not been unable to print from our ipad to normal printers. Suggest you search Google. We are not prepared to buy an air printer yet.
-
-
what is the apple 'icloud' and the 'ios' .....? and also i am 13 years old and i was considering getting an ipad 2 for my next birthday, would it be worth getting the ipad 1 or spending a bit more and getting the ipad 2?
-
iCloud is space provided by apple to allow you backup certain files from your apple products. IOS is the operating system your apple product runs on. In a few months iPad 2 will reduce in cost due to the launch of the iPad 3. I would pay extra for the ipad2 instead of iPad 1 it's faster and gives you FaceTime etc. I'm a novice but these are my thoughts.
-
-
can i go on the internet to play games on facebook
-
yes you can play your games i=on the internet for facebook
-
-
can we watch films
-
You can, but they must be in MP4 format if they are one's you already own.
You can also buy or rent new films through iTunes.
-
-
Which colour looks best? And what games would you recommend downloading?
-
You will no doubt put it in a cover so colour probably isn't that important, I chose black though.
As for games, the usual suspects are pretty good e.g. Angry birds, most games on mine are for my kids (6 & 4), and they enjoy games like jet pack joyride and sonic racing. The reviews on the app store normally give you an idea of how good an app or game are. -
Silver looks nice I like the bejewelled game and solitaire
-
The usual itv NBC player Facebook the kids love temple run and joggle play lots of card games but I just love the fact it's so portable and fast
-
-
hi is the i pad 2 any good and what can you do on it
-
its brilliant. what cant you do! really useful, especially when traveling!!
-
-
is the i pad really the best tablet or is it just a hype ??? .........................
-
Well I've not tried all of them but the iPad that I have is really, really good. And I don't use it to it's full potential. Does everything I need it to do so yeah I think it's the best tablet. Hope this helps.
-
-
is the i pad really the best tablet or is it just a hype ??? .........................
-
I don't think there is anything better. Apple has a brilliant Marketing organization, but they never exaggerate, in my experience.
-
-
I don't have a wifi connection at home. Can I buy apps using my ethernet broadband connected PC then transfer the apps to the Apple iPad 2 by Apple's / i-Tunes sync process?
-
Yes you can. It is also quicker and safer I am led to believe
-
-
is it worth the money now its in the sale or is it better to get the ipad 3 for the original price of the ipad 2?
-
As far as I know there is not much difference between the 2 and the 3. Only the camara quality. The only people I know to change to the 3 are those that had a 1. I'd buy the 2 in the sale.
-
I would agree with Gemma. There doesn't seem to be much difference, some people are complaining about the 3 being ever so slightly thicker and heavier too (not really noticable). The 2 is a brilliant machine but just to be on the safe side I would go to the store and "play" with both . Personally I would pay the extra money for the 3.
-
-
3G?
-
Not required but could link it through my phone if I wanted to. Monthly charge for a facility that in public places, cafe's and hotels you get via wifi for free so no in my opinion. Have never regretted my decision. Good luck.
-
-
I use my computer for searching the internet and updating facebook alot, how well is it for these things????
-
As good if not better. It's much quicker than my PC and every bit as effective.
