Laptop Buyers GuideManufacturer's Description
Do you want both performance and style on the go? If so, then the stunning 10.1" Aspire One D260 is right for you. Beneath its handsome exterior, this netbook delivers 8 hours1, 2 of battery-powered connectivity via wireless and optional 3G. Its advanced features and easy “carry-ability” make the Aspire One D260 perfect for go-everywhere daily use.
Stunning 360º design
The Aspire D260 resembles a sophisticated carrying bag that gleams with class wherever it goes. A unique “flake” pattern graces the front cover, palm rest, and rear mirror strip for stunning good looks from all angles, inside and out. Accentuating the elegant appearance are chrome-plated logos and a transparent power button that portrays a floating effect. You can choose from four colors to fit your style and personality: Black Flake, Charcoal Flake, Pink Flake, and Purple Flake.
Full-day on-the-go power
Go all day on one charge! The Aspire D260 lets you work, play, and stay in touch longer thanks to its 8-hour battery, plus an Intel® Atom™ processor and LED-backlit display, which consume less power. Charge up once wherever you go using the petite Acer MiniGo AC adapter, which is 34% lighter than typical adapters! Additionally, jet-setters will appreciate the interchangeable AC converters, always great for international travel.
Small form, big functionality
The Aspire D260 is less than 1" thin and about 1 kg, so it’s easy to carry wherever work or play takes you. Ultraportable yet fitted with regular-size notebook ergonomics, this netbook features a 93% standard-size keyboard with bigger keys for comfortable typing, and a wide multi-gesture touchpad for mouseless, fingertip navigation and control.
Universal connectivity
Multiple connectivity options keep you in touch with family, friends and colleagues. Enable high-speed sharing of media files or documents using optional Bluetooth® 3.0+HS, and connect to the Internet via Wi-Fi CERTIFIED™ technologies, Fast Ethernet, or optional 3G. And the integrated Acer Crystal Eye webcam and microphone gear you up to engage in face-to-face chats with anyone in any part of the world.

Mark, Croydon Often on the move
Score 9.0/10The specification is Atom N450 processor, 1GB ram, 160GB HDD, which is typical of all the models in the class.
It has a webcam and microphone, so is ideal for Skype on the move. 3 USB ports, ethernet port, external monitor port, wifi, but not 3G.
This comes with Windows 7 Starter loaded, which runs fine on 1GB, however this version of Windows 7 is cut down and you cannot change the background for a photo of your choice. However there is a free utility from Oceanis software that sorts this shortcoming out.
There is no usual trap door to access the ram, and there are no instructions on how to upgrade the ram. However it is very easy to do (keyboard and bottom panel removal), although doing so will probably void the warranty. There is only one ram socket, so the upgrade is by replacement rather than addition.
